We have an Eternal Beau slow cooker and tea tray. Both wedding presents but not requested π. We also have a Henry Watson kitchen clock which I think DH found at a car boot sale. All three are still used regularly π
many years ago a visiting electrician knocked my clock off the wall....I'm still holding out for the teapot....for some reason we were gifted the garlic pot instead.(i assume they thought a pot was a pot)
On Saturday evening when the clocks changed ( he changes the clocks earlyπ)my OH dropped the kitchen clock smashing the glass. I ordered one from Amazon not speedy delivery or anything. By Sunday lunchtime it was delivered. Impressed.
Thanks for all your replies and good wishes. Hillbern you are right. I am fighting to get residential care for Mum, for a short period of time. Here it's called Intermediate Care and can last up to 6 weeks ,or at least that's what it used to be. She needs more help than I can give at the moment and needs time to get back on her feet or adapt to the new normal whatever that may be.
Thanks bubbs, fortunately she has a little bit of time from carers in the mornings and as I only work 3 days a week I spend time with her and do her shopping, sort out bills, medications which is a big job as she is on more than 30 tabs a day. I take her to all hospital appointments as well. She lives in a flat 1 floor up accessed by stairs only but manages these if she takes her time and opposite her only about 10 steps away is another lady of similar age so the 2 of them have breakfast together and spend most evenings watching t.v together. The daughter of this lady also keeps an eye out for me so I am lucky from one side.

That's lovely with the neighbour and her daughter.

Question for the elite. When they delivered new fridge yesterday it had a small dent in the door - told delivery guy who took a photo but thought we can live with this rather than the hassle of them taking it away.
Now of course with it in place it looks annoying. Currys have offered 10% off goodwill or an exchange but this will involve loads of hassle (empty fridge, remove doors, wait for them to collect, reinstall new one etc. The logical thing would be for them to send a new door only and exchange this but that is not apparently an option. Should we live with the dent and take the 10% (will we even notice after a while as no doubt it will get scratches, things stuck on etc) or go through the hassle of a replacement? Thoughts?
Amazon wish lists - I just tried marking a gift off someoneβs list as purchased elsewhere. It wouldnβt work on two iPads, errored out. It worked on my iPhone but I can still see it on their wish list. Anyone else tried today?

We bought a 'posh' but dented bargain fridge (catalogue return shop) and put fridge magnets on the dents βΊοΈ

Fridge magnet? Magnetic notice board? Also perhaps worth trying one of the cheap glue car dent removal tools.
Got my Murder In Mind Boxset from amazon today. Delivered straight to my wheelie bin as I was out (and I've had a moan to CS about that). Looks ok as it's sealed, and happy to receive it so quickly as I don't have Prime and only ordered it yesterday. Benefit of living about 10 miles from the Amazon Warehouse I suppose

Another one for putting a fridge magnet over it, you can get things like calendars etc that would look fully intentional.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

The 10% you get back would get you a helluva fridge magnet
Things ARE crazy everywhere in my opinion! Completely back to front and upside down ...
I say this at least twice a day every day.
i was driving through a car park today as schools were coming out and a group of lads were walking ahead of me. I slowed down and one little toad refused to move out of the way. He slowed right down and just kept walking ahead inches from my bonnet.i was so tempted to put my foot downππππ
i knew the second my car touched him, I was doomed. This lasted for about 10/20 seconds but he eventually moved out of the way. I eased forward past him and he kicked the car and punched the side windows as I drove byπ The cars not dented or anything. I just got to thinking how angry with the world he must be and how easily situations can escalate.

Here we call it assessment/re-ablement, same thing.
Please don't ever tell them that you can /will help her, even thought we all know you will.

Crazy world indeed sleazy
I had this situation with boys on bikes in a carpark and in the end I revved up and moved sharply just stopping before the major antagonist. He moved out of the way and then tried to jump in front again but I swerved and left quickly as I knew they would try something β¦..as you say, very angry and looking for trouble ( or a claim) .
Thanks everyone for the Birthday wishes Another year older , don't seem 5 mins since i was 21 π±
That's coz you are still 21 lovey!
I wish..........well actually don't think i'd want to be 21 now, so many horrible things happening now with drinks spiked, fighting, stabbings why can't people just go out and have fun?
