Can the gardeners tell me why my cucumbers are bitter again this year. They taste of soap. Before anyone asks I am watering them with fresh tap water.
So annoying. Feel like binning the lot😕
What variety are they? If not all female, were the males removed? Did you try them both ends? Sometimes the cucurbitacin produced in the leaves and stems reach the fruit. I am not an expert though, so hopefully someone else has answered you. x

Not got the answer but I find that most green salad I grow tastes bitter. Love growing tomatoes, raspberries, strawberries but green salad yuk. Prefer shop bought ones lol.
Keep persevering, the own grown tastes so much better.
I have to admit that I was surprised that one of the first things to suffer with the pandemic was healthcare!!
They could have had quarantined hospitals and ordinary hospitals, they could have continued opening doctors surgeries with temperature checks and if necessary tests for entry, all staff in full ppe.
The doctors at our surgery are still in hiding. A neighbour tried to get an appointment yesterday but was told they are still not seeing patients F2F and she could book a telephone appt. only - it would be 7 days hence.
It is totally ridiculous that they are not back doing the job they are paid to do, especially now as everything else is opening up. You can go to a blooming nightclub but you can't see a GP. Somebody should start getting on their case about this.
Just the stuff for my lockdown stash - 8 x quinoa / Freekeh plus 3 x spaghetti hoops. The problem now is that I have so many stashes that when I'm looking for something I can't find it!

Our GP said the tele consults are being done by theGPs who are self isolating due to infection or exposure. A lot of surgeries round here are just closed due to lack of staff
We want to say thank you to all our members who have supported us during the pandemic.
Which is why we're giving you 50% OFF Surplus Surprises from Monday 19th to Wednesday 21st July!"
The very small print in the graphic says discount is taken off the marked price.
I assume it applies to most people as I am not NHS or one of their main target members.

Not read back, but abort trips if you're going mainly for this. It ended yesterday. They're also saying 6 max of anything, not just certain items, so 6 Muller yog, not 6 of each flavour. Only exception is if say the yog go to 10 for £1 because they're v short dated, the till will allow that.

I understand what you are saying but it has been like this at our surgery since the pandemic started and they are still not back operating as they were before.

Surely the last thing you want is for healthcare to be neglected, especially as a lot of illnesses would leave people more susceptible to covid. Pretty sure if I had not been able to get treatment when I had pneumonia then I would not be here anymore. The doctor said that if I had gone a day later it would have been emergency admission, with all the restrictions happening now then that may not have happened either.
I'm wondering what's happened to the Nightingale Hospitals? The doctor in A&E on Monday told me that some northern hospitals are already running at capacity and having to send patients to other areas.
I’m going to my doctors surgery today for the first time since before lockdowns. I’m getting an anti-tetanus jab after stabbing my finger on a rusty staple yesterday so they’ll have to le me in!
I will buy her a new one for her 2nd birthday even if its a bit dearer because my girl is worth it
Tweets, I have bought a couple from there and they are lovely quality. Well worth the money. If you want a thicker one, or longer shorter, just email them, they are lovely to deal with, and a cracking price too! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113197364094

Actually given how much covid there is around now (pretty much the most ever) I think it makes sense to try and stop all the GPs getting infected even if it means phone consultations - whereas a couple of months ago when cases were low it would probably have been fine for them to see people face to face.
Not sure if any research has been done on how effective remote primary health care is compared to face to face. I suspect there is still reluctance to make contact at all with remote appointments and then probably less scope for people to mention all their symptoms and for doctors to observe things the way they might do in a face to face appointment. Even small numbers of delayed/missed diagnosis can ad dup to lots of deaths down the line.

Yes best to get a tetanus jab and they last 10 years
