We’ve been lighting the log burner in the evenings but not put central heating on yet.
Yes, same here but it does mean the bedroom and duvet are really cold when we get in - brr! I'll be caving soon even if it's just for an hour. Probably depends on your type of house as well as we're in a converted stone built stable from the 18th Century, with no loft we can insulate and walls that can't be insulated. If you're in a modern semi or flat I dare say it's a bit easier. I'm assuming this is where lalli wins with her house that seems to be hot all the time!
Yep we’re in an old house with thick stone walls. It’s our preferred type of house but it does have its drawbacks. 🥶
Might have to be coffee again although we've had that much free coffee from the shopping apps I'm still using Jan 21 coffee, so if anyone sees any good deals around the £15 mark shout up please! Chocolate I'm thinking maybe...
Edit: Found one - works out at £5.29 a kg getting 2 on S&S (instead of £8.94) so quite a good price
Good evening, lovely Elite I can't believe I've got 5 pages to catch up on, but I have. I also can't believe I forgot to do the quiz yesterday, sorry Sleazy
A new character has appeared on Eastenders, Nish Panesar, and seeing the actor who plays him reminded me how much I enjoyed Teachers many moons ago, so I've just started watching it again on All4. Lovely jubbly
I’ve had the heating on in the mornings but not otherwise. I do have an electric blanket and have also bought a hottie for when I go away overnight. I found the cheapest here as I wanted a second one as a present.
Afternoon all, Hugs to everyone Heating has been on, Oh put it on first, I'm trying just to be careful with it. Coincidentally when the boiler man came from british gas to service our boiler it was fine till he took it to bits then it leaked. It needed a heat exchanger, overflow thing & some valve & seals were replaced. Luckily I have boiler covered with no excess. it will need replacing at some point in the near future. Boiler is ideal boiler it is not vey good & has a breakdown often.
Did they do the heat exchanger under the service contract? Mine told me it wasn't covered (10 year old boiler)
Interesting your boiler serviced by BG and then developed a leak! Same here!
DH went a walk round the golf course and stepped on a wasp's nest and suffered a few stings which have resulted in a very swollen hand wrist plus some stings to his legs too Chemist advised him not to drive while is it so badly swollen
Definitely not cold enough to have the heating on here. I try and wait until December before I first turn it on and usually manage it unless it gets excessively cold in November.
Hope everyone is well and happy!
Hoping not to have to turn the heating on if we get the African Plume promised
Read something like this at Mirror online last week. But the BBC weather forecast not looking that great for here next week. Really hope we do get the african plume though

I love old houses, they have soul x
They are not great for cabling though, OH has a metre long drill that has been rather useful. One of our clients has an old house with flint walls, that totally wrecks drills but you cannot get wifi through it, it was extended so we had to get through one of the old external walls to get wifi to the other side, it took about 5 drill bits to get through it!!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
We have succumbed to having the heating on for an hour or so a couple of times a day And yes, we are wearing jumpers and sitting under throws most of the time. Our house has a kitchen/bathroom extension built over a car port (in the 50's), and despite piling in as much insulation as we can the bathroom is still fecking cold without heat.

Me too. I'm also trying to cook on it as much as possible to save on electricity. In the past I've just done the odd soup or casserole, but I'm starting to experiment much more. I've done 'baked' potatoes and even a sourdough loaf.
I did salmon tonight in an old copper bottomed frying pan and pasta in pesto on top of the woodburner🤗
My hive heating app now shows graphs of when the heating came on and how long for. I can see that for today the heating was technically on for 4 hours, but only needed to be heating for 43 minutes in total. We have an old house with solid walls rather than cavities. We had the loft insulated a few years ago and that makes a big difference in retaining the heat.

My boiler is nearly 14 years old I think yes all parts & labour were included in my boiler cover, though he did say they not making some parts now.
I did have a quick dabble last year with conker washing jizz, my tree didn't produce many conkers last year but this year is a mega crop. I will have ago again this year if I pick some this weekend. I have seen a vid on conker soap from the leaves 🤔, obviously to late now because they are all brown and on the floor. Also you can wash your hair with conker juice too😂

Morning Peeps 🌞
The weather has definitely turned here, about 400 geese are gathering on the river at night so they'll be gone soon.
We're still waiting for someone to clean the porcelain slabs 🙄 then we can move on to planting but I'm completely lost 🤷🏻♀️
Thinking of everyone going through difficult times ♥️
Busy bee, the geese come here for the winter.
I can highly recommend The Watcher on Netflix, seven episodes we watched them over two nights.

Oh! I'd presumed they went to Canada 😁 You're not in Canada are you? So they only fly North for a few hundred miles? Lightweights 😉
We love watching them practice their formations, how they take over as leader, or drop to the rear, if the Vs not straight my husband shouts to tell them to sort themselves out, or pull up 😂
We had a rarer pr of birds this year but it made the news so I deleted the post so no-one could work out my address 🙂
