It’s unwise to advise people to go against doctor’s advice. Help to interpret it, if qualified to do so, but doctors are in possession of patient’s medical history, whilst we are not.
My old doctor knew my history lol This new surgery with 7/8 doctors, none of which I've ever seen don't. The one that rang me today didn't appear to have even read my notes ...
My old doctor knew my history and look how rubbish they where
Best thing i ever did was change doctors and practices she took one look at my blood results in my history and knew what i needed to help,
I can't understand why your new doc is bobbins if that bad i would change to another practise
I've been on 20mg, going to be upped to 40mg grr. Don't I get a say? I'm thinking that I'll either take them every other day or I'll tell the GP to put them in his pipe and smoke them!
Strop? You haven't seen a strop yet lol
You do get a say, equally the doctor has a lot of training and a decree to do no harm. So if the doctor thinks you’re likely to disregard advice given they may prescribe you a higher dose.
For example, a relative was diagnosed with diabetes and told to cut carbs, alcohols, sugar etc. But the GP knew they were also caring long term for a terminal family member and would definitely be utilising the odd bottle of wine so they taught them how to manage the situation as it is rather than trying to force the ideal outcome.
Medication isn’t the only way to deal with physical problems, but if you aren’t able at the moment to concentrate on living within certain limits then it can definitely help.
I should also add that if you don’t really care about the quality of life you have at your end of care provision and your spouse is aware of your beliefs then you can do whatever you want. Any dnr requirements should probably be enshrined in law via the correct channels ASAP to avoid any mishaps though. Make sure you have a valid power of attorney in place for any situations that may be dubious.
Serum LDL cholesterol level (44P6.) 3.5 mmol/L Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio (XaEUq) 5.2 mmol/mmol st
Yes, those are quite high. But I wouldn't be taking (more) statins if that was me, I'd adjust my diet and see if that lowers the cholesterol level first. Or start using the Benecol or Flora ProActiv products that have plant stenols in them which help to lower choesterol.
Benecol cheese on shopmium and milk lurking there as well

At the start of the year my total cholesterol level was 8.8, although that did include some good cholesterol. The Doctor wanted to give me statins but I said that I would like to try diet first. I rarely eat processed foods now and only eat red meat once a fortnight (OH insists on a Sunday roast) so a joint of meat one week and chicken the next. (I know sleazy is vegetarian but know nothing about processed meat substitutes, so can’t comment there). I’ve given up all dairy as well. There are plenty of substitutes that you can’t tell from the real thing. I drink a daily cholesterol lowering drink. Benecol is expensive but all the supermarkets now do their own.
my cholesterol is down to 6.3 now and as that contains a high level of good cholesterol the doctor is happy. 😄
oats are good for lowering cholesterol so porridge and home made flapjacks.

I have had a text through saying I am now eligible to apply for a COVID passport from the nhs and failure to apply may result in a fine. Complete with a link to apply.
Is there no depths they will not sink to?
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Hopefully the bottom of the Mariana Trench, Enterprise! Idiots.
Good afternoon. Mum came out of hospital at the weekend after being told they were keeping her in. By yesterday she was so ill had to call 111 and she was re-admitted last night. Still in A&E Majors at the moment, with no idea of a diagnosis. I'm not allowed in because of Covid.

If it's the same as the one I got it's a phishing text. Google it. It was the wording which alerted me.

My phone said it thought it was spam anyway lol. It is not a legal thing anyway, just concerned that others may be suckered in. Some vulnerable people may believe it

I thought you'd been suckered in 😳 glad you realised.
Woke up so hot this morning, came downstairs, even hotter. Had flu jab yesterday so start Googling symptoms, take a covid test while I’m waiting just in case.
Eldest child appears, “why is it so hot in here?”. That’s weird, does he want a covid test too?
Nope, turns out it’s just 25 degrees in the kitchen because MrLalli put the dryer on overnight to save on electric. We’re not on economy 7, also we have a drying rack to hang washing on that doesn’t use any electricity. Bless him, he does try to help but sometimes I wish he wouldn’t. 🤣
It has been mentioned a couple of times previously but much better to post again for those that missed it. Maybe we should have a sticky. I use it more now prices have started to go up. You can favourite an item and sort by store. I do an essentials and bulk buy basket as well.
Morning Peeps. Thank you for the tea lalli and Roma.
Couldn't sleep much - combination of WiFi coughing in my ear and the usual strange dreams that I'm having lately.
Had a walk this morning and a bite, second coffee now, then back to nursemaid duties (washed up before I came out).
Forgot to say - my trip to Asda worked out OK on Sunday. They had the Redex petrol additive I wanted (£2 instead of £4), so bought two. Cheapest I can find it here is £3.50, so saved £3 plus the cheaper fuel there made it worthwhile.

Good morning all, so dull here, looking like it might clear though so might actually get some daylight!
Thank you for the cuppa Roma
Annoyed, ordered something off Amazon that never arrived despite tracking, they said they would resend but disappeared, the item I want is now cheapest with yet another Chinese seller that has one bit of feedback that could easily have been faked. So I shall wait a while, see if more feedback arrives for this seller. It is a nanoblock set that seems to have vastly different prices everywhere. Got my money back on the previous one through Amazon. But WHY do they let sheisters on to their platform???
Hoping to finish my crane today or tomorrow, shall post a picture on here when I get the chance

Ahhh, bless him They have to learn somehow .
I won't even have a dryer in the house. Like you, we have a drying rack, yesterday's washing is dreaming of life in another land on it at the moment, it dries quick enough. If anything needs drying quickly it is mostly a shirt that OH forgot to ask me to wash, so I hand wash it, spin it, and then iron it. Turn around time about 30 minutes or so. Though I have been known to tell him to do it himself, in which case he miraculously finds another shirt he can wear
Thanks cjj - I’ve missed any previous mention, or perhaps thought little of it and forgotten, but it looks fair on looking just now. I’ve started a new thread in our A-Z product links area upstairs for reviews and comments, and ease of access down the line.
