I'm thinking of buying an adult 🛴 to go whizzing about on instead of walking for a change. I did think about buying a bike then thought these scooters are simpler. Cheaper , probably safer and take up less room 🙂 I went whizzing past an old guy in his garden once when I d dropped Riley off at school and his eyes nearly popped out 🤣
Especially if you were wearing your sexy santa outfit! Haha
ANOTHER PET HATE Double negatives like I didn’t get nothing
Or people who have such a bad grasp of speaking that they need to fill sentences with swear words or... GRRRrrrr!!! "like" . I am sure LIKE I am LIKE speaking effing properly LIKE.
Afternoon all. Nice sunny day here but not too hot like forecaste. Just right. Bit sad today though. Today was the day I was due to fly to Australia on my £200 Qantas deal to see my DD Still havent got my refund yet or my £58 I paid for seat selection All paid my paypal. Could I get the money back through them if Qantas keep delaying?
Poo. Letter from Nationwide. 'Because govt has cut interest rates by 0.65% we are reducing your rate by 1.5% which will cost you £200pm. Suck it up.'
Currently I can put 60k elsewhere but need to find a home for 90k. This money costs me 1.85% but I can't just pay it back.
Crikey that's a lot of income to lose per month
I don't understand the last sentence though, why does the money cost you 1.85%?
We have a much bigger mortgage then we need but have kept it large in case we want to buy a btl or move somewhere larger and also it was supposed to turn a profit, borrowing at 1.94% (even worse than I remembered) fixed for 5 years 2 years ago, at that time we could get 2.5% on savings and everyone was expecting rates to rise. The mortgage has an erp of 5% I guess if e could find a 3 year fix paying at least 1.94% then we wouldn't lose out.
Ds1 , he came home Thursday and his neck on one side was all swollen and then last night the other side and all down the side of his face. Not a great way to start his leave 🤦♀️ Our doctors is shut and I spoke to the pharmacy on the phone and said apart from telling him to take anti inflammatory which he has anyway , our local pharmacy can also write prescriptions but he says he's not allowed to get close to him to diagnose so just debating if to leave it till Tuesday x
Oh bummer when dh had a bad eye i had to ring 111 as was out of hours and they diagnosed by me taking a picture and emailing is this an option? or does it need to be felt?
Thanks lovely , just called them and they said it is either mumps or bacterial infection so they have sent a prescription to the late night pharmacy for antibiotics and see how he gets on with that x
I really don't want to be a negative ninny and I know we all have our pet hates but really!! Do we really need to criticise people who use incorrect grammar or don't spell things correctly. There are many reasons people can't spell , use incorrect words and is also a form of disability. I also think it puts people off posting #BEKIND
You never know someone else's circumstances xx

Oh yes, that drives me mad as well. In some cases it's used every other word - "I was like sad and he was like not bothered but she was like upset when my parents like went out"
It's just not necessary and makes listening to someone speaking it so irritating. I'm not sure if it's just yet another Americanism that's been adopted here or whether it is all down to the atrocious grammar that seems to be so prevalent these days. A most infuriating mannerism whatever the reason.

Right, thanks, I understand the dilemma now. Can't help on where to put it that won't lose you money because everywhere rates are pretty abysmal and, unfortunately it seems, due to get worse.

I don't have any problem with the written word, when people post incorrect spellings or grammar it doesn't bother me at all. Which is what you are saying in that you think it puts people off posting.
I disagree because we are talking about the use of grammar in the spoken word, which is totally different.

I didn't post to be argumentative but it all started with someone posting the wrong word and I'm not going to quote anything as I do not wish to single people out but just remember not everyone grew up with a great education.

Yep - found somewhere I could put 35k at 2.25% but who knows if that rate will last. Can also pay off 10% without penalty, otherwise it seems that the best I can get is about 1.45%. Seems a shame to give up the credit line but if I am having to pay 0.5% (£5 per £1000) just for the privilege then I think it will have to go. There is no way anyone would ever lend me nearly so much in the future given what has happened with affordability rules etc since I first switched to this bank 7 years ago.
Bloonin’ eck, I didn’t realise I was in the company of the rich!
I have seen no evidence of that 🤔 - it was a good idea making use of mortgage borrowings for profit 😎. I fondly remember stoozing money from 0% credit cards into savings accounts before the financial crash 😉. I haven't done for years though, as the savings returns made it not as profitable 🙁.
Can’t believe how many bumble bees I have in my garden this early in the year
Yes and they are massive!! Seen a few wasps last 2 days as well, i am trying to keep well put of the way of the little blighters after last year
Two wasps came out of hibernation in my conservatory this afternoon. I don't know where they hide over winter but they seem to find places up in the top that I can't see. Then they drop out dozily (usually onto a chair with hopefully nobody in it ) before starting to fly around really angrily, beating themselves against the windows to get out. I really dislike wasps so they have to get dispatched I'm afraid.

I have killed a couple 😂 after getting cellulitis twice last year and never having it before i am being more careful, 1) i don't want to end up at emergency doctors again 2) its bloody painful 3) if we ever get back to work i can't have more time off after all this, my op etc ........actually be better to just give up work 🤣🤣
Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather . We completed jet spraying all the patio yesterday so can really enjoy sitting out in it today.
I'm technically on Easter holidays at the moment and although the situation around us is dire I'm enjoying having time at home with there being no expectations from myself or the children. Not having to think where can I take them what can I do, should I let them go there with their friends. I also think my dd is enjoying having a break from school and friends.
Massive thank you to all of you out there that are still keeping everything going x
I need to go and google if you can get mumps even though you've had jabs 😬
I didn't really think of that, but it must be a relief not to have to make 'where to go' or 'shall I let them' decisions, with the added advantage of the children not being able to blame you! The 'functional' and resilient families will be fine, I do worry about the others though.

Just seeing figures of 90k and 60k. That’s rich in my eyes. Unless I got it totally wrong lol.

Very true ilts, but at times you do know people's circumstances and they could/should do better. Saying that some mistakes tickle me at times... The CEO of the local charity I'm involved with is dyslexic (wasn't sure how to spell that!).
He was looking for ways to dispose of of a wet and smelly mattress from one of emergency accommodation flats last week as the tenant had "contents" problems. He also shared a playlist which he said was the best "complication" he'd come across.

I would pay off a lump sum if it’s costing .... unless the money is earmarked for something. You can pay 10% with no penalty x
It's been another stunning sunny day here :-). I went for a long run this morning, then spent the afternoon down the allotment. Everything has been sown, I'm just waiting for the seeds to germinate now. I have everything a good water as it's been so dry here. We had a couple of rumbles of thunder in the distance but it didn't ever make it here.
I've got the fire pit going and I'm waiting for enough embers to build up before we start making dinner on it. It's going to be a kind of chicken curry.

Problem with that is that it's gone and can't be retrieved.
At times like these I'm glad we have an offset mortgage. At the very least, savings sit in the offset savings, so I'm effectively getting the same interest as I'm paying on the mortgage.

Problem is it isn't my money, it is money I should have paid off the mortgage but didn't because I thought (and up until now) I could make a profit on. And I live in the SE where 300k gets you a 2 bed flat in a grungy block and 675 gets you a 3 bed (1 is a box room) semi with a shared side drive.
If it was my money then it would be invested but given I know I will have to pay back a fixed sum on a fixed date I don't like the risk. SC is right an offset would be ideal but when I took it out rates were about 0.5% more expensive for such a deal. When I first started with the bank I was earning up to 5% on some of the money and paying a 2.5% fix, lovely jubbly. This time I fixed below 2% and was getting an average of 2.5% on the money so still an annual profit of £1500 and the perceived wisdom that rates were so low they could only go up....

Totally agree. I do notice when people use incorrect grammar but as long as people understand what is meant then that is what is important. It’s communication that is important not whether someone has used the wrong word or spelt something wrongly.
like you say some people are not as able as others. #BEKIND.
