DS2 still not exchanged, even though all solicitors have had deposits since Monday
Other end of the chain refuse to budge on completion date. DS2 agreed to delay 3 weeks, but that still isn't enough for them!
So we had: DS1 - mortgage offer expires 31/7 caught in the middle person - we don't mind as long as sale and purchase happen at same time other end: we need time to empty house
part 2: mortgage offer expires 31/7 (but we have a new one that costs us £50/ month more) so will agree up to 21/8 when we go away caught in the middle person - we don't mind as long as sale and purchase happen at same time other end: we need time to empty house, needs to be after 25/8
part 3: mortgage offer expires 31/7 (but we have a new one that costs us £50/ month more) if its after 21/8 needs to be mid September caught in the middle person - we don't mind as long as sale and purchase happen at same time, needs to be August due to schooling (don't know if it is teenagers or parents here) other end: we need time to empty house, needs to be after 25/8.
Complete deadlock. I suspect "other end" will just delay until they get their way.
Reading your posts about being scammed, I nearly fell for an Amazon one yesterday. It was very convincing and I have never heard of it before. I had a free month of Prime and had just cancelled it, when I got an email saying I could renew for 90 days for £9.99 with a code to use. Couldn't see where to enter the code on Amazon, but pressing on the code opened a page asking for my bank details. Something made me ring up Amazon to ask them where to enter the code and it turned out to be a scam. Felt pretty lucky not to be caught by this one, but really sorry for anyone who did. So beware and don't take anything at face value.

Have had this on SO MANY TIMES. I put a block on their number ……still get them regularly.
Thank you for the cuppa BB I think we need more people like you in the world, stopping scammers and motivating people like that It is bloody hard work running your own company, but it is worthwhile and you are doing something you WANT to do for yourself. I bet your mate is extremely grateful to you. Blad little miss is feeling better, hopefully it will sort all her symptoms.
Well, think I am making progress on the bathroom front. Previously it was "if you want a bath we might as well keep this one", so I went drastic and told him I wanted to rip out the bath and have just a shower, and yes, it would have been nice, and I would have been delighted if he had gone with that but realistically there's a lot of things we use the bath for. He now thinks he has talked me down from this whereby, in reality, I really want a bath with a squarer end so I can get closer to the shower, and I want one that will go lower than our current one, and shorter. It is a very strange space, so it cannot easily be a normal length bath, so we might as well go short. And he has agreed to that so we might actually make further progress, which involves removing tiles off plasterboard, which also means almost certainly replacing the plasterboard. Last time he did that he replaced half a sheet so the tiling was uneven, this time I shall have to accidentally make a hole high up on the wall, wish me luck
Isn't it awful how we have to be so devious to get our way
Anyway, must go and see if I have any sandals suitable for wearing for going out tomorrow.
😂😂😂
In case you manage your bath: When I redid my bathroom I copied a friend. The bath taps with a mixer shower are at one end of the bath and a separate shower over the bath is at the other end. This means that the shower screen doesn’t get in the way if you need to bend over the bath to wash your hair or whatever. It was a lifesaver when I broke my elbow.
Tweets, that looks great! The last time I had a new carpet they wanted to charge me for removing the old one so I did it myself. I was particularly glad I’d done it as I removed all the staples which were keeping it in place and hoovered thoroughly too. I’m sure they would have put the new underlay on top of all the mess!
I also like the green contrast. I’ve painted my hallway a vivid colour and really struggled to get a carpet to match. In the end I went for contrast and it works very well.
We have always taken carpets up. We remove any staples and epically upstairs I disinfect all floorboards. Some time back we had a bedroom to carpet we did the usual …remove staples disinfect etc. There was a nail in the middle of the floor to which my OH struggled to get out. Instead of removing he hammered it in. He went straight through a central heating pipe. I had water pouring through downstairs in my toilet. Not end of story here….he removed the nail making it absolutely pour out. He was like the little boy in the dyke putting his finger in the hole shouting instructions to me. 😂 Lesson learned 🤣
oh no! That is terrifying. I shall remember not to do that…
Good evening all, asking if anyone has any recommendations for a conveyancing solicitors please. We are 5 weeks in and our solicitor which our estate agent recommended 🤬 has decided are not going to read our emails and won't bother calling to talk to us and said they now won't act for us despite making us chase around trying to get 8 years, yes 8 years of bank statements as they wanted to see hubbys work salary ( hes been retired 5 yrars) he sent them what he could get from the phone, 9 months & said 6 years to follow as waiting for bank to post them. Im fuming,i called estate agent this morning who said oh we never had any contact with said solicitors, as we were away when the sale was accepted they preasurised us for a solicitor so we just went( against my gut feeling 🙄) with who they said and turned out to be a middle man despite emails with estate agents logo on it?? Now out of pocket & worse 5 wasted weeks, oh then she turned around & said our buyers changed from who our estateagent recommended because they wanted it to move quickly, despite telling us in the original they were happy to wait until we were ready, oh and we should of chased conveyancing as they are not solicitors only office juniors😡 now she tells me. No one has returned my calls despite me leaving messages saying urgent. I really could scream my lungs out, sorry i really heeded to vent. Hope everyone is enjoying the weather and its the weekend enjoy x
I don't get very far as I have endometriosis. Started with awful pain in my abdomen and pelvis when I was in my 20's.
After years of being misdiagnosed I had a full hysterectomy and needed my bowel and bladder cleaning from all the mess that was attached.
At the moment my bowel, bladder and colon are under attack! And I struggle with anxiety.
So just a haircut is enough for this weekend. Hope yours is fabulous. xx
I can see that would be very restrictive, however you always manage a sunny disposition for us all each day. Its appreciated.
I'm sorry you've gone through that. I can only imagine as someone who has IBS , a tiny bit of what you've suffered.
I got my haircut too this week and coloured. It's a little dark for my liking. Hoping it fades out a bit.
We are going over to Little miss to hang rest of wardrobes door. She had open wardrobes but says she's older now and wants things out if sight. How they grow.
I think the elite is a good place to distract yourself and share any concerns. Makes you feel like you're at a big coffee morning. ☕
Use Head & Shoulders bb, it's supposed to be good for removing dye. I tried it for a few weeks when I was too dark...
Have since been coloured too far in the other direction. 😳🤣
We're on delay for the opening ceremony, keep getting distracted... 🤔

Hate to say this haze. We have been dealing with a solicitor for 18 months so far. NOT ONCE have we ever spoken directly to the Solicitor. It’s always their secretary. Family member has got a job in a Solicitors. Number one instruction for them is NEVER to put a phone call directly to any of the 4 solicitors they work for. I’ve now got accustomed to this procedure alas. Best of luck.
We used Davisons Law, not sure what area you are, I always get through and speak to the solicitor, they answer emails straight away.
We have news, have sold again, and buying a different house. The thatched one, she is deciding if she wants to sell, has found a new fella with 4 kids of his own, so needing the room.

Fingers crossed it all goes well x
Haze, when we bought our first house, we used a solicitor Gwen who did conveyancing... she was as mad as a hatter but was flipping brilliant. We used her for everything, including wills, until she retired. She'd ring us to keep us informed, and when we went in to sign for the property, she always had tea and biscuits ready for us. When we bought some land, which was a bit dodgy (as the seller only wanted a small portion through official channels), she asked not to be told but exchanged contract within minutes of us ringing to advise to do so. Ooh God, I do miss her service... the last time we bought, they were good picking up some issues with rights of drainage, but she wasn't our Gwen. I think most are just conveyancers. Hope it goes well for you x

We had a leak a few weeks ago and hubby triangulated the source which was directly under our bed !!! It turned out a nail went through a pipe when the floors were laid but didn’t leak until the cleaner was put through the pipes and it removed the rust which was sealing it. We estimated 34 years that nail had sat there without causing trouble !!!!!
We have been dealing with the same firm for over 30 years but times have changed We used to get the solicitor but he retired and two of the "older" staff have left recently and have gone to the estate agents next door Leaving 20+ years of service says a lot about the changing conditions but they remain good reliable firm to date I hope to be able to use them again soon although these terrible tales of moving are a worry
Neighbours moving... they are taking tiger with them.
Im slightly devastated - he is here 16 hours a day. But he's theirs. It does mean now I consider our next move cause we literally stayed on here for him.
Going to see how job goes.
Kettles on folks. Yogurt Parfaits ready to go.
Off to little miss to finish the wardrobe doors. Might have a wander to the market afterwards.
Day looks promising as the sun is out and it's warming things up a bit now. Got a day of outside jobs today then friends round for a BBQ this evening so lots to do and keep me out of mischief
Hope everyone is well and happy and looking forward to a great weekend. Enjoy!

Good morning all, glorious sunshine here
DD coming round with DGS in a while.
You might have to consider getting a furbaby of your own Bananababe, oh, and thanks for the cuppa
Never did find any sandals yesterday, you would think I could with Clarkes, TK Maxx, Deichman and Primark! Primark is a load of **** for sandals at the moment!
I hope you can see a little bit more clearly this morning now the mist has, hopefully, lifted. I would have been fuming too!
Hope you have better luck this time around Sarah, fingers crossed.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
Haze, that sounds a nightmare re your solicitor - what on earth do they need to see bank statements for? If you were getting a mortgage or something I could understand the bank / building society needing them but surely no need for solicitor to have them. Sounds like some sort of delaying tactic as they know it will take you a while to source. You probs need a local recommendation tho - best of luck with it!
Enterprise, do you have a Skechers or a Skechers at an outlet place near you? They had some lovely sandals in at Cheshire Oaks when we were there last week - me and my mate both got some (different ones)
