A couple of Aldi TooGoodToGo boxes brought me 12 bags of salad, 20 heads of lettuce, 6 big tubs of salad, 8 big bags of rolls and a few other bits and bobs.
I’ve emptied the chest freezer and restacked everything to make space for the rolls, but does anyone have suggestions of what to do with the salads and lettuce to make them last a bit longer?
The salad bags won't last too well lalli so use them first. Unsure what's in the big tubs of salad but if there's some tasty tomatoes in there I would take them out to keep seperately. Other than that, do you know anyone with a rabbit or chickens?😂
It's one third the temperature here than it is in Krakow where mr TM is. It hits the dizzy heights of 12 degrees here while my dear husband was yesterday basking in 35 degrees.😳
This sounds promising what's ATR? And can I use them online?
Airtime rewards. It’s an app where you get money off your phone bill just by registering your credit and debit cards. As an extra bonus they sell gift cards at a slight discount, that you can definitely use online. John Lewis is currently at 4% off online and in store. There is a whole thread upstairs. As an extra bonus I have a referral code VW66QJPX - it will give both of us an extra £2.

Good morning all, a bit grey and humid here.
Was planning to cycle to a town about 3.5 miles away, not sure I want to if the humidity continues!
I have been looking at Aldi too good to go bags, but the problem is I have been nipping through the local Aldi first thing in the morning to see if they have any reductions I fancy, and am generally not impressed. Is it always the stuff they have reduced? My local ex-McColls, now Morrison's daily, has started doing them now, not surprised because whoever does the stocking has absolutely no idea that there is an Aldi and a Lidl a couple of minutes walk away!! Don't fancy collecting between 9 and 10 at night though, not willing to move by then
Last week our neighbours were saying it was 45 degrees in Hungary!
Hugs to all, wish Sue would pop in but hoping she is simply too busy with everything.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

When there is some left in a bag of salad, pop a kitchen paper towel in the top and seal with a clippit. Store upside down in the fridge and it’ll last much longer.
Otherwise I support the idea of separating the tomatoes out (they make wonderful pasta sauce in a slow cooker) and then I’m afraid the compost bin is the way to go after friends with chickens, rabbits, hamsters…
Spuds — and everyone, did you see this on the BBC news app, from Dr Bailey Mosley:
"Grief can feel overwhelming. Light and beautiful. Catch you by surprise. Feel like the weight of a stone or a sharp pain. It changes unexpectedly," she said.
"As people often say, it’s a journey, not all sad and you take each day at a time."

Here’s some more thoughts …maybe Aldi pack their bagged salads in nitrogen (some packers do this as it keeps the prepped leaves fresher for longer) I’d use some first as tm suggests but see what happens to the others. I find it depends on type of leaves - baby spinach, rocket and lambs lettuce seem to last for ages, but bagged iceberg goes brown, and red or dark oak leaves go slimy. Ugh!
The heads of lettuce - can’t beat the old fashioned way of wrapping in a damp tea towel in the fridge. But 20…. Look out recipes for lettuce soup (surprisingly nice and a good sleep aid 😊)
And then the last resort ….there’s always the compost heap /wormery
You did v well - prompts me …..must look at 2g2g again

Krakow is on the list of places I want to visit, as it's near Auschwitz

Jack Monroe (of Cooking on a Bootstrap) blitzes limp salad leaves to make a "pesto" sauce for use with pasta, gnocchi etc. Her recipe is avail online.
In a clean sealed jar it will sit in the fridge for a few days and takes up substantially less space than the bags would.

But the leaves are limp because they are on their way to being off. I wouldn't keep them for days, even in the fridge.

Thanks for posting this, I've just had a quick browse at that blog.
Found the salad-bag pesto! Good that it can also be frozen for a few months.
