Have to admit that seems to be in the dim and distant past.

We did have a wonderful time, though I had to lay off the really spicey food so I could actually do the travelling IYSWIM.

The travelling was a bit too much, if they had told us how much travelling we would be doing we might have thought twice, and the Himalayan Queen (toy train) was horifically uncomfortable 

That said, the hotels were very good, one of the best was the Oberoi Cecil Hotel in Shimla, have a google on it   The strange thing was that we could not find the name on the hotel anywhere, but we came to the conclusion that it was because of the high level government meetings that are held there.  Come out of the room in the morning and find armed guards on the landing 

Delhi was all bustle, still not sure what side of the road they drive on    Quite funny though, at the tolls on the "motorway" there is supposed to be 9 lanes, one of the other group members counted 22 lines of traffic!

The Taj Mahal was absolutely fascinating, but we could not get to Di's bench because a group were hogging it, I suspect they were demanding money to access it.  There is more to the Taj Mahal than the main building, there is another palace on each side of it!

We actually got into Ranthambore national park on the first day it reopened after the monsoon season, and we managed to see 3 tigers

Delhi was rather dirty and the poverty was bad, basically self built shelters extending for several miles, but the funny things is they tend to have satellite dishes.

Jaipur was interesting, and Shimla was fascinating with all the old colonial buildings there.  But Shimla is in the Himalayas and there is not a straight road there, mostly they have a lot of hairpin turns.  We had a ride in a pink tuk tuk in Jaipur which was slightly scary!  Also had a rickshaw ride in Old Delhi, again slightly terrifying!!

It's hard to summarise it without taking the whole of the forum lol.  Have to admit I thought we would get a decent cup of tea out there, but there tea was not nice!!  We didn't dare try the street food, though it looked rather nice.  We didn't really eat outside the hotels but the food in the hotels was really nice anyway.  Can't quite remember much about the food now though.
