Sleazy deffo apply for PIP first, it's a lot and you get points for each section, there's a tool online that you can input your answers and see if you'd qualify. If u get it its also backdated for 6 months.

Still trying to sort out the poo shed his family has caused, but as DS1 arrived home yesterday for a long weekend from Saudi we're taking a leaf out of Sarah's book and going to the pub 😀

I haven't been for a while either, it's a bit of a drive and our freezers are full!! I always look out for chicken fillets though.
I've had a smile about chicken goujons ... a few years ago there was a morries offer - I supplied friends with these for weeks/months, there are probably some still in the depths of the garage freezer!
I am currently getting almost everything we need from our local prevent food waste market and the new kid on the block at our community centre - The Bread and Butter Thing. £3 for 1 and £8,50 for the other. Good value, but like you Mrs M, I like to get out to do real shopping.
I just stated what my Neurologist told me. I have spent months in hospital over the years because of being paralysed on 3 occasions because of GBS. Last time was 2018 when I spent 11 weeks in hospital paralysed from the waist down, including arms so I’ve a good idea how things work.
Just found this.
How many mm per day is nerve regeneration? On average, damaged nerves can grow back at a rate of about 1 inch per month or 1 millimetre per day.
Good luck to the house movers hope everything goes smoothly,
Bananababe if that Lily doesnt stop screaming she does my head in no need for it
Sue hugs
Hugs to poorlies and those who need or want one xx

I'm sure Wendy wasn't being sarcastic. She has a great sense of humour, which shines through.
Now, to throw a spoke in the wheel, they guesstimate the speed of repairs. There's a few different theories that certain neurologists adopt, but there's holes in each theory.... ultimately, the human body healing is dependent on multiple factors, many of which we really do not understand fully.

Don’t know why you thought that but I actually wasn’t as I’m on Tapatalk and don’t get all posts but wondered if you’d read we’re under a consultant neurologist and have regular appointments x Still in Majorca but it’s cooling and forecast thunderstorms by Sunday. I’m tired and overfed and glad to be coming home tomorrow xx

Tornado, I am just pleased there is someone on here that knows where I am coming from right now, though sincerely wish you hadn't been through that. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
OH is getting more sensation back, hopefully it is a mild case (that's me, not one of the many consultants he seems to have). They want to do a nerve conduction test soon, the only problem being the person doing it wanted him to go to outpatients in a hospital aboout 20 miles away. Considering how little he can actually do at the moment that is more than unreasonable, and the neurologist that would be doing it has seen him within the last week or so anyway, so does come over this way. We do know he is progressing, the physio has given us various exercises to do and he is definitely feeling more.
As for eating, hopefully he will be able to have some pureed food next week. He no longer needs constant monitoring either so may be moved to a respiratory ward next week. Not sure whether I am happy about that or not, but it may well be better and keep him more occupied. He can't do a lot due to double vision, hopefully he will get to see the opthalmologist soon.
Hope all had a safe journey, and wishing you a safe journey tomorrow Wendy
My only knowledge of GBS is when my ex-boss had it some years ago and spent weeks in hospital - almost totally immobile and couldn't even be fed by mouth because of fear that he would choke. He did eventually return to work. Best wishes to your OH Enterprise.

Yep, he has been tube fed for a little while because he did choke quite badly, it affects the swallowing muscles. Fortunately he is not totally immobile, but things like standing up (They have a bit of equipment that helps and is very stable) take an awful lot of effort. They are reintroducing various things by mouth slowly, they are still not sure of the muscles but feel it needs to be done so the muscles get use, and it is under close supervision at the moment. It makes a lot of difference, his speech and voice improve a lot after he has had some "liquid" by mouth.
Pleased to hear your OH is getting better, sounds like he has been lucky and has a milder case of GBS. Hopefully he will make a full recovery because not everyone does. I think it’s around 20% of people that fail to fully recover, unfortunately I’m one of those people.
Whenever I’ve had a Nerve Conduction test the person doing it has always come to whichever hospital I was in. First time I had GBS was in 1991 i was completely paralysed in ITU and on a life support machine, also had to have a tracheotomy. Spent around 5 weeks in ITU then moved to high care for another month or so and then back to my own room on AMU. I was in hospital for 5 months but I was still paralysed from the waist down when they let me go home as they agreed I could do the Physio at home. Been in a further twice, 2003 & 2018 which is when I’ve had the IVIG Immunoglobulin which wasn’t available the first time.
GBS support groups motto used to be ‘Getting Better Slowly’ which is exactly that.
For some reason I can’t post link for Support Group.

Make sure you’re with him for the nerve tests as my hubby has had them several times and actually dreads it to the point that we won’t be having any more after the fiasco in the summer where the probes jumped out and across the room as he screamed blue murder .

Awful as it may seem, this makes me feel a whole lot better. He was in Intensive Care for a couple of days, they did think they might have to intubate him, but he managed to get past that. He is currently in MADU (medical acute dependancy unit) but no longer needs that so may well be on a "normal" ward next week. Still a way to go, and his age is working against him somewhat (he is 68) but he was pretty fit before this hit and they are actually saying he is in better condition than most people they come actoss.

I shall try, does not always work out. There are very very good nurses there, and they are really nice, so hopefully if I can't one of them will be.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
Thank you. Among other things it hadn't occurred to me that he needs to inform the DVLA. Of course there is no way he will be driving for a while. I shall go through that in more detail when I have the energy.
Glad all went well sara, our movers were disgusting. We have just finished putting bed up, so many problems. You pay what is supposed to be a reputable company but get donkeys putting it politely. I was so angry, I'm exhausted my back is killing me and their managing director will sort it Monday, meanwhile we have no clothes, boxs chucked every no beds or wardrobes assembled, spillages, breakages and I can't even get into the kitchen to make tea or get food. They arrived at mine for 9, driver was pd of he couldn't swing into our drive, major attitude all day, then at 5 they dumped everything onto the drive, drive off without saying a word. Exhausted but sitting here in the quietness is what is keeping me sane, it's so peaceful no wonder (I can't remember her name 🫣) didn't want to leave, I spoke with her before she left and she said she wasn't looking forward to her new house how sad. I hope she settles in ok. Hugs to all xx
It is set in the 1980s and once scene talked of adding a child to a parents passport. I remember doing that years ago. Just googled when it stopped. As recent as October 1998 and those already on a parents passport could still use it until the child was 16 or the passport expired. So as recent as 2008 there could have been teenagers travelling on a parents passport!

Hope you are much better tornado. That sounds like a terrible experience. ☹️
Morning, thans for breakfast llbc, kettles on again. Every thing I look at it gets worse. I've taken pic of everything, they certainly were not professional, just about to email and make sure they acknowledge my complaint. Radio is in, its dark and foggy so lovey and peaceful. Have a great day folks hugs to all.
