Reminds me here on Nurses and old times . This is not a good story but true; My grandfather always had a bad foot and had to wear a special boot all his life. He was born one of triplets. All 3 were born and were placed on a floor near to the fire to keep warm. The Nurse /Midwife attending the mother stepped over the babies and stood on my grandfathers foot. Giving him a lifelong condition. Can you imagine if this was these days 😱 does not bear thinking about.
Bless him...shame they didn't put the babies in the warming oven of the aga!
When my youngest was born, I was changing his nappy on the floor during a family gathering. All his cousins were crowded around fascinated by the newborn. My sister, who is a nurse, tried to get to the other side of the room through the crowd of kids when she kicked my baby in the head! My sister had a meltdown, whilst my baby didn't even cry. 30 years later, no lasting damage (we think)
I must have a black sense of humour but these stories😱😱
i daren't use the 😂emoji in case I offend someone but from m123's posts to reading this🙊🙊
Thanks for the drink Sue. Hugs to you and your mum.
My Samsung S20 has randomly started to overheat and turn itself off after a few minutes use. Has anyone experienced this type of problem? Any advice? The battery is going down at a rapid speed too. I'm assuming due to overheating.
I'm due to go on holiday in a few hours. A fully working phone would be quite useful. We use them for everything including camera and alarm clock. I'm worried that even if I get a new phone when I'm back it the old one won't stay on long enough to transfer everything to the new one.
Everything always happens JUST BEFORE 1. you are going on holiday 2. Christmas .........please feel free to add🤔

Oooh dear.no real knowledge but heard of this problem before. I’d be in the kitchen drawer, getting out the old emergency phone and transferring everything across pdq if I was going on holiday in hours. (Think lots on here keep old phones in semi- retirement 😂) Good luck.
Sue - heartfelt good wishes to you and your mum. So, so difficult, the burden of love and care. Hope things are easier this morning.
That’s the way to do it Tm. No scales here, and too many slack Alice stretchy waistbands. It’s a slippery slope. I’ll try something smarter (and less Lycra) on later….get a reality check. (Already know what the outcome will be)
Just read back - As usual I’m entertained and educated!
And also reminded of olden days and things forgotten. Outside and inside bogs with those thundering high level cisterns that might shower you with who knows what. Some were scary. Think there was a class system in play with the toilet paper. (& where you found it - in a holder, on a string or spike, or on the floor.) Some of my relatives used Izal, others used Bronco, some boxes, some rolls, but I remember we moved to some strange precursor of soft tissue that was a sort of stretchy crepe texture. Not v absorbent, a bit scratchy, really not much good at all for the purpose intended ….but fabulous for bandaging when playing hospitals. This was obviously against all rules. Luckily it was quite robust so we could rewind it back onto the roll and try to pretend nothing had happened.
Just felt the need to get weighed this morning. I have felt my work clothes feeling a bit tight this last week. I've put on 2.5kg in about 6 months😳😞😞
I will be getting out my best notepaper and pen this morning and writing out some goals. I have to write stuff down to make me accountable🤔
If I don't do something now I'll be as fat as butter come Christmas😳😳
Think many of us may be heading upstairs to the healthy eating soon
TM i put that much on when we were away Would have been more but they did not do frozen cocktails and I am not fussed on normal ones Beautiful food including salads but felt obliged to eat so much more Dessert cakes were works of art
Its chucking it down here so going to knuckle down with more cupboard clearing out Sadly I am a happy shopper in a new charity shop with lots of Christmas decorations ideas to make from Facebook Having to hide the "odd" little purchase
Sue I hope the support of the elite will help you through this difficult time with you mum Know you are never far from my thoughts Sending hugs and some of MW squishes

Sorry I've not been around lately, not likely to for a while either.
Took a break for a while, fully intending to come on after the holiday, but husband came home with what looks like guillain-barre syndrome, currently in intensive care.
Forgive me for not being talkative.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
Sorry I've not been around lately, not likely to for a while either.

So sorry to hear this E. You must be in despair, thinking of you and positive thoughts for your husband xx

Enterprise, have a big hug. DH friend had this and is still with us and runs the bar @ bowls club. It was awful to see him in ITU but he rallied, and he has a daughter and friends to rally round, no doting wife. Please take good care of yourself and let us know how he gets along.

We have a friend who was hospitalised in the early 90s with it and made a full recovery and he has no lasting problems thankfully. But it was a shock to see such a young fit person so unwell in hospital so suddenly.
Blood results decent. I've halved my chlorestrol way into the safe zone.
My blood sugars have gone from 79 to 67 in 3 months. Safe zone is 50 ish so more work to be done.
Need to get more exercise. Think it will be key but hard with sciatica and full time work. So need to consider that. I'm sure my family will be relieved.

Afternoon all from overcast Bucks. We ventured into Berkshire for our 🐾 walkies this morning, still exploring. Timed it just right and stayed dry 👍. Quick stop at Aldi on way home for milk etc, also some celery to make soup later 🍵.
Hope MW is ok, squishy hug coming your way 🫶 Thinking of sue and her mum, sending positive vibes 🫶 Snap what a kind bus driver and well done to you for making it happen 🫶 Sleazy enjoy your cruise 🛳️🛟⚓️ TM welcome to the tight clothes club 😉 Bb may I suggest walking. So easy to do and free 😀. Could invest in walking pad for indoors if no suitable walking surroundings? You can start small and gradually build up time and distance. And speed 😉. Just parking car further from entrance/shops, or taking stairs instead of lift, it all adds up. Pedometer of some sort to count steps can be a great motivator 👍. Can you tell I love walking 😆🐾🥾🐕🦺 Lbclbc thank you for your kind words and positivity every day 🥰 Sending healing vibes to Mr E and a 🫶 for Enterprise
Enterprise You must be so worried and tired too ICU is such a worrying thought but as other have said a full recovery is possible so try to focus on that
You have been missed and I know you will have the full virtual support as a well loved Elite member

Ha. The only class system came into play was what newspaper was used 😂 just reminds me here the other grandfather was a newspaper seller outside underground stations 🤣😂 bet they got their newspapers for free. Talking of bandages and putting it back on the roll after. We as children would empty Mums washing up bottles into a jug and fill these up for water play. I had to chase my brother round to get the container back and put the washing up liquid back before she noticed. I bet I did not get back what I took out😁
