MW i only have the money to do all i have done and helping son because i got a lump sum with my works pension as well as a monthly amount so i am not really rich if it wasnt for lump sum i wouldnt have been able do everything i have last couple moths.

Mattswife We have never ever had the published income or even near, I really believe it’s a myth. I also took my lump sum with pension and it’s the cushion that helps you sleep nights and make little impulse purchases or just go out to a pub to eat. As for your parents, their heads need a wobble but seeing how one relative acts to her two children nothing surprises me. She dotes on the lazy, rude one and dislikes the smart, kind one. The kind one doesn’t say much but it’s obvious that years of rejection has taken its toll. Thank goodness she’s close to her Dad and grandma. They are both adults now and there’s no going back but the Mum can’t see any wrong !!

We used the offer in Summer and visited Quarry Bank near Manchester Airport. Can recommend if you are interested in the textile industry, there is a shop, cafe, ice cream parlour and a book shop where you can also take unwanted books. Plus nice gardens to walk around and the old village where the mill workers lived.
No idea rusty, on the survey it just says Septic tank 3 stage brick built.
Its recommending a Klargester gamma 2800 litre septic tank and new drainage field. The new tank would be concreted into position, connected to an existing electrical supply and be approved by building control.
Oh that Klargester is a sewage treatment plant, I've a similar thing in my project. I've a brick built one in my full time house, so do most of my neighbours, more simple and less things to go wrong. Who did the survey on the tank was it someone from klargester or an independent surveyor?(Just wondering if it's selling thing like a damp surveyor from a company selling magic damp cures🤔)
We had someone come round to quote for a damp cure and when we googled what he suggested afterwards it was described as basically a £4k lampshade 😱🤣😱🤣😱🤣

I feel exactly the same way. This place and the grounds are really too big, and a lot of work, but the thought of moving house and all that entails just horrifies me. Trying to buy/sell a house seems so much more fraught these days than ever before ...finding somewhere suitable is hard enough but then people changing minds, or not being honest, increasing the price, dropping out at the last minute, problems arising or lack of communication....the list of potential crises goes on.
It's a whole big nightmare that you just wouldn't want to go through if you could help it and all that is before you consider having to pack up and move all the stuff you have accumulated over the years, let alone the Elite 'stash'
I like the village I live in and the people in it, and where would I get all my lovely 'straight off the field' veg if I didn't have a friendly farmer who grows the most amazing vegetables nearby. (he's pulling several acres of carrots and two fields of sweet corn this week so I'll be right there )
We were talking about this with friends who have just bought a bungalow. She had to cash in her pension to get it in the same village so they could be cash buyers, otherwise they just go too quickly!
Other friends just thinking of converting the adjacent garage into a bedroom and ensuite so they could effectively live downstairs when they feel they could no longer manage the stairs, which actually sounds like quite a sensible option esp if you want to stay put.
We're trying to simplify our grounds too as too much to manage but still want to retain some natural areas for the wildlife. We're going to have to give up on our wild flower garden as it's become far too unruly and full of weeds and it's simply too big an area to keep on top of. Probably going to have to paved or gravelled unfortunately Shame really, as we've a resident hedgehog now - hopefully there will still be enough natural areas for him/her to be able to stay

Had various eye checks this afternoon which has revealed that I have extremely dry eyes. I have now got eye drops to put in 4 times a day and have to put warm compresses on my eyes twice a day. At least it's nothing more serious like cataracts or a tear etc

Jeremy Vine had a phone on dry eyes last week on R2 - might be worth a listen. I only caught the tail end of it.
Might be worth checking out the pause thread upstairs as oestrogen can help massively with dry eyes

Our solicitor is now on holiday and the secretary has just reiterated what is above, so a bit unsure on what to do.

We have/had an integral garage which we had made into a room years ago.
. Was easily done too. Took out the garage door bricked so far up and added a window. Had a door opening done with a door from inside in the porch. Plastered the walls then decorated , had the floor levelled etc and bobs your uncle lol .
Lee my eldest son had it as a bedroom while he lived here and one morning he heard a scraping noise coming from the direction of the window on the side which was also in the garage at the time . He went to have a look and two burglars ran off . They had patiently taken out the things that holds the pane in place (double glazed by then ) and laid them on the wall and were just about to take the window pane out 😱cheeky badgers .
Is it a probate Sarah? Don't panic (easy for me to say). Your solicitor will guide you when they are available, have they not left your file for another solicitor to read through?.

They were doing it all behind a tall wooden gate needless to say that went and we had a fancy wrought iron one there . Was well over 20 years ago. They just jumped into next doors and ran off into the night
