Reminded DS of the Heinz offers and yes he will take some
DH has painted the "red" sills under the windows He was up the BIG ladder I am only comfortable one step up. I can now go out as he is on low level now
He has volunteered to precook about 6-7kg of onions for this running club BBQ tommorrow The house will smell
Lovely weather forecast so going to make the most of it Winter jackets etc will be freshened up
Hope everyone is well and happy. It's a lovely morning here although you can tell autumn is approaching as it is quite cool and there's a lot of mist hovering over the fields.
Did an early morning Sainsbury's visit to get some of the ½ price Heinz products I needed like mayo and beans. 815g of their Seriously good mayo for £1.70 is a good bargain.
Have a great day everyone, the weekend looms
Good morning Re heinz offer at S it is better value to buy the 4 packs of beans or soups they work out at £1.87 for 4.
A few years back I bought a Cordyline for their big ornamental urn as requested by Dad... It died in the winter 😑 So I gave him another, which was fleece wrapped last winter.. That too died with late frost 😞 So I've bought Mum another for their anniversary 3rd time lucky 🤞🤞🤞😊
Same thing has happened to our Cordyline. The second one is limping along…I fear it won’t be with us much longer !
i think something happened a few years ago coz mine died and has now sprouted babies, its like it rotted, i dunno if it was coz it was so wet or a bug of some kind but just a walk round our estate and you can see most peoples died, its really weird

Hello everyone, just caught up. We were away a few days starting BH Monday. It’s good this retirement lark, but don’t know what day of the week it is anymore. Thought we would miss binday and had warned my neighbour I wouldn’t be around, course it was a day later, so did not miss it at all 😆. Anyway we went away to walk in the Cotswolds! Booked a very last minute pet friendly hotel thru secret escapes near Gloucester, 2 nights away and 3 days of beautiful walks. Weather was dry and breezy, no jacket required. Well, I was told I “march” by OH rather than walk, but I stay warm! Dog loved it too, lots of new sniffs and still lots of blackberries around, he is very good at picking them👍. OH found a website called Cotswold Way Circular Walks, so printed off walking routes at home and off we went. Loved it and am sure we will do more routes another time.
Hugs to all those who could do with one. Thinking off those with elderly parent/s, and those with offspring leaving for uni, sending hugs 🫶🫶🫶
Im after some large household plant pots, have tried B & Q, home bargains, B & M, Asda.. I wish Wilkos was back.
Have you tried The Range Sarah? Lots of Wilko branded goods instore. Or you could order exactly what you want from the Wilko website and collect it for free instore.
No, I didnt realise Wilko was in The Range. Thankyou I will investigate.

Ooh which Hotel did you stay in... we went to one a few weeks back and the dogs loved it, so looking for some where else to go.
Afternoon gang I ordered a couple of laundry baskets from Homebase and failed to collect in time. They left a voicemail asking me to call but they didn’t pick up and I was waiting for cancellation message but today both orders sent thank you for collecting messages !! I got on to chat and they say no cancellation was made and all marked as picked up so I’m pretty annoyed as the only people that could possibly have all the info would be staff.
Back to reality with cooking for today, lots to do but too tired so left until tomorrow. Would anybody be able to help please im trying to use the microphone to talk onto the phone, but i want it to write my voice as a message on an email. Google isn't helping, or im not understanding it. We had a "few" issues while away and I've had to raise a formal complaint against our bank, ive written an essay lol. So much stress we didn't need, but despite that we had an amazing time and some unexpected extra days at sea but going through prince Christiansound certainly made up for it and all the amazing sights we saw. Hugs to those that need them, hope all are well. X
Glad you had a fab time!
Sent you a screenshot as easy to point to than try and explain in writing. HTH
Not wishing to put a 'downer' on this, but just for info, .....husband and I both did this at Boots.
I also had a cholesterol test booked the same week (had been booked ages in advance) where they took the blood from my vein rather than the finger prick test used at Boots for Future Health, and lets just say, the results were significantly different!
I did query this with my GP surgery as I was sure that they must have given me the wrong results, but they said the vein tests are more accurate. I preferred the results from Boots
Three months later I had another vein test, and know that I was given the correct results from my GP.
Boots should be doing proper blood tests. I was one of their guinea pigs, where they train staff in what to do and it included taking blood. Was recruited via one of the market research companies and got paid about £40.
It's not Boots who are doing the tests tho, it's Our Future Health. They have been using some Boots stores as a base as I guess they have the facilities, although ours was in a portacabin in Tesco car park lol.
Went back and matched our finger prick blood test results with the recent GP ones and mine are pretty much the same for cholesterol and DH's were better than the GP ones, so the other way round to yours Juju

My ourfuturehealth cholesterol was really bad and way out of line with previous so went back to docs for another and got a normal result so wasn't that impressed really. BP was also unusually high although I had been rushing about like a mad thing that day so perhaps that was correct.

Obviously it depended on areas but a couple of years ago we had around 5 weeks of really bitter unpredictable weather. It affected 2 large established bay trees in my garden at the same time it took a fantastic f1 hybrid agapanthus from the garden also .This was 2022. Our neighbours lost cordyline and palms also. I especially remember this time because we have a washing machine in a room joined to our garage . Pipes froze and we had 5 leaks.

Yeah mine are more palm like but I guess it's all the same family. They were the only things that died like that though I think. It's weird you walk about and see where everyone has sawn off the tops and babies growing back. Even ppl that had them fleeced. Mines in a pot at was about 20 years old. Lots of crazy weather in that time too.

It was Our future health, they did it in the Boots store, they had a proper station set up with screens. I have since seen the lady that did the tests working on the till.
I thought the tests would be the same, as they are using the same blood so was shocked they were different. All is good though, as I also had my 5 year health check at the GP, so have had a thorough MOT

Oh right.
Yes only had my 5 year check a couple of weeks ago too and all good which is the main thing 👍🏼
DJ sleazy not in tonight 🤔, will have to drink by myself then 😂. Damson picking tomorrow and trying to put a shower screen up, hope others have more exciting things to do.
I've been invited to take part in the Future Health study too. Started online form then came to the agreement part and this part has me thinking:
Researchers approved to access and store the information collected by Our Future Health could be from academic organisations, charities or companies, in the UK or overseas.
I'm not quite sure where my data will go - especially the companies bit? Not signed it off yet.

If you have a look on their website there is a list of the currently approved organisations that have access to your data. But that doesn’t mean it won’t be sold to something or somewhere that you don’t agree to at a later date.
I find the idea a little sinister, especially since they started off by targeting low income households and offering a £10 grocery voucher a few years ago.
And with the risk of our healthcare system becoming privatised in the near future, I don’t really want insurance companies being able to refuse insurance for the children based on some kind of hereditary thing that shows up in a genetic test, such as cancer.
Also as I understand it, they retain the blood sample for future testing and research, the same as some of these dna testing companies like 23 and me. So I can’t see how you’d have any idea what your sample would be used for in the future.
But that’s just me being super conspiracy theory ist (and also I detest Randox as a company after the whole Covid contract stuff)
I’ve drunk my tea now thinking ‘what’s for breakfast?’ I’m not looking for sympathy but I have a raving temperature, stinking drippy cold, sore throat, cough, headache, body ache etc …..but feeling absolutely stomach crampingly ravenous. Weird eh? They say ‘starve a fever, feed a cold’ But I have a fever and a cold……
Have a good day everyone 😊
(& yes lbclbc - how did it get to end of August so fast!)

I always enjoy a bowl of rice pudding when I'm poorly. Can't stand the stuff usually.
