Well that was a wet and windy night! Was woken (and then kept awake) by the rattling of the perspex panes of a neighbour's greenhouse. It's not really that close but it sounded it as it was very loud. Roads flooded all over the place as well, but it's stopped raining now and the sun is trying hard to make an appearance.
Good morning Because I'm sad I've sat and worked out what the original cost of my shopping from the company shop would have been....£224! And I paid £77. I realize we obviously struck lucky and next time may not be anywhere near as good but we are going to go again in a couple of weeks.
😂 I think many of us here share that kind of sadness.
£224 drumroll……down to £77 👏👏👏
I would love to have something like josie’s spreadsheet to keep track of my efforts but I’m not skilled enough to design one, and not disciplined enough to keep it up day by day when life gets overwhelming.
You had a lucky strike. Next time will probably be good - but won’t be the same. I think the key is not to go expecting anything specific. You had a meat bonanza this time, next trip it may may be dishwasher tablets or cheese…. This would drive some folks crazy, but I rather like it.
Have a good day everyone.
I looked on the FB page and it said forget your shopping list and that's exactly it isn't it. I'm trying to teach dd to stockpile, the problem is in her house that if the foods there the kids and their dad eat it! But I said for her to get herself a box and like the bin liners that were 80p get six (as I did) and just keep one in the kitchen. We will go next time open minded and see what happens, also how nice are the staff! Supermarkets could learn a thing or two from them. I have found a citrus gammon joint that was £4 on Sainsbobs nectar price £11.50, we should have bought more than one 😂

Good morning all, sunny one here
The "kids" are away for the weekend as from tomorrow morning And then, it has been confirmed that they will be moving into their own place as from 16th (assuming nothing goes wrong ) Can't wait
Was hoping to get out on my bike today, but the gusts might be a bit too much, going past little roads with the wind blowing down them is like being hit by a brick wall! I will be able to get an e-bike once they are gone, can actually get it in the garage then.
Wish we had something like a Company Shop nearby, nearest one is about 50 miles which is a long way to go for potentially no reward! If we were going that way anyway it might be different, but have not been that way in a long long long long time!
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

I've had some fabulous stuff over the years. The M&S washing up liquid and bin bags were brilliant. As others have said, it's a bit random but that's half the fun. Don't take your hubby or he will find even more random stuff he needs😫 I had to get car shampoo and cleaning clothes last time😐
Fourp has 2 funerals to attend in South Wales. This will mean he's away for a week
One funeral dress code is Wales sporting red ... Off I trot to Ts as they have rugby shirts in sale + 25% off Nope he says he's not wearing a rugby shirt to a funeral
Oh Mum has just rung, I don't have to go over as she's going to an art exhibition with DS
Snow has fallen and settling on Moor and nearby towns and villages!
Maundy Thursday today, but feeling very proud as DS has had an academic paper published in
‘The International Journal of Numerical Methods and Applications in Biomedical Engineering” - known for “pioneering techniques that help to solve critical engineering problems.” 🤗🤗🤗
Bit bored today, there’s only so much telly and reading I can do.
I will have a go with that picasso, it might be life changing 😂😂.
Taking of tax it's the basis period reform year,so something like that, yes I do understand it, did I really know it was happening 🤔🙄😬. Well I've explained it to Mr Rusty and he just looked at me, he then asked when was overlap 🙄😬. This is only affecting self-employed that have a year end accounting not ending March/April.(I think 😂)
Just remembered… Warning to any self employed who have or had their NI calculated or paid by an acccountant. Hubby had a lot of years in the nineties and noughties where one week was not paid. Turns out the accountant was paying 52 weeks ni and some years it’s technically 53. He did have his charter rescinded for other reasons and we found most of the work being performed by college students but didn’t ever think about retirement etc until it was nearly upon us as every year tax office we’re happy and we paid our fee and concentrated on the business. If I hadn’t been able to gift nine years home responsibilities he would have been very short on pension.
You could make a complaint. Any practising accountant would have professional indemnity insurance.
I've paid the essential month end bills,(other paperwork will have to wait until Tues)got the vac out downstairs and started to pack up for the weekend of work on a building site.
I'm going to the Company Shop tomorrow, are they all different or stocked similarly? And if similar can anyone recommend things to look for.
It seems different stock and different stock levels. I have to say I have been disappointed when I have been and now would not go on a special journey (having gone on special journeys to find my store had nothing we wanted, or prices that were not really a bargain).
Today will be rainy day, end of month financial and admin stuff. All on low data mode phone. And I will be changing broadband providers, trying to sort out a plum isa, and get a new mobile contract with a provider that offers proper data roaming, plus a few more annoying bits. I’ll be making a list and trying not to go into task avoidance mode. It’s the last day before month end…so really the eleventh hour.
Seems I can’t do much these days without a looming, threatening deadline 😂
Are others similarly afflicted?
I cant for the life of me remember where it came from but Mark Twain seems to lodge in my head - anyway a phrase I heard recently - "eat the worm"
So you force yourself to 1stly do the worst possible job 1st - eat the worm - whichever is the most vexing and annoying and time consuming and soul draining. Once you have tackled this the To Do list wont seem so daunting so you try the next "worm" Now the list is looking far less of an impossible mission and you feel so much better having made a start and then you are on a roll. The more really vital time sensitive things at the top of the list have been done so now you can start on the easy and easier things
Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others,or to diminish something of their pains
Company Store wins: The other week, my local had bottles of Barolo wine in for £7 a bottle, and if you know wines, you will know how hard it is to find for under £20 a bottle (this bottle retailed at £28). Obviously bought the max I could.

Absolute bargain, well done! I love a Barolo and they are usually well north of £18-20 for a good one. You can get some around the £12-15 mark but they tend to be quite inferior. I may have a <ahem> few good vintages in my wine 'cellar'
