Who remembers pie funnels? In the shape of a blackbird.
Does anyone use one nowadays?
Mum had a Pyrex small dome one
Yes we had a blackbird one! Don’t make pies anymore though. I quite often have a whoopsied pie if DH is having chilli but he’s not keen on pies. Strange man! Whenever I say anything like that in front of DD2 she always says “Well, you married him!!!”
One thing I don’t really get is when people go to a pizza restaurant or pay loads for a delivery pizza as pizza in our house is reserved for the days when you have no time/energy to cook and it’s a cheap pizza out of the freezer for tea. If I go out to eat, I would feel cheated if I had pizza! I know many of you won’t agree!!! 😂
Im chuffed to bits with those tiny little chock pots from T on GJ. Does anyone want to add any ideas for what to freeze in very small amounts in the freezer. They have great little sealed lids🤔😀
So for I'm thinking herbs and lemon juice.
Any more ideas?
Garlic and wine(reduced) for when you only need a dash in a recipe?
Pastes and pestos where you don’t want to use the whole jar?
My husband and children not only scoffed mine but also binned thr pots! I have the rage
Well jealous of freewheeling it sounds wonderful.🏕️🥾
Think I've talked myself out of Gousto, looked at their menu and just needed inspiration. And I've decided to invest in better ice cube trays then I won't want to buy ice or an ice maker🤞
Currently use nature valley and strawberry Alpen for cereal bars but often think about swapping them out for protein bars. I don't think mine eat for the energy though, more to take time out at work.
NB Alpen have just gone up to £1.25 in Sains but still £1 on Amazon.
You should get Nature Valley on Nectar Price of £2.10 for the 20 pack which is pretty good value I think

Oh didn't think of that - good idea. I'd better retrieve out of the kitchen recycling! Love the idea of freezing pesto and humous, two things I often chuck.

You're not a fan of Pizza Express I take it then! 🤣

Well I would enjoy it but as we rarely eat out or get a takeaway I want something a bit more ‘special’ when I do!

They're £3 for 20 here 🤷🏻♀️ and only the 5pk on nectar. Or are you including O4All discount?
💡Oh personalised nectar? Yes haven't had them yet.
There seem to be some decent enough prices (which is quite rare in current times perhaps) for cereals at the moment (not cereal bars as I now see some people have been posting about them, this post is unconnected and posted before I saw that). This seems decent by current standards; it's not decent though when put alongside when we used to have value-range corn flakes years ago (are they still available anywhere?) for cheap prices that went down to 14p on reduction. I managed to get several boxes of non-corn flakes cereal one time for 9p each - I'm 'sure' there are 'often', or not infrequently, a box or boxes of cereal reduced somewhere in the country.
Having done some checking for cereals online (including on HotUKDeals for some instore), there are also many more cereals on which the prices are not anything like the good offers we used to have in the past (not surprisingly even if they are all still eye-watering) and therefore, as usual, we pick the rare items that are actually any good! Those rare items are quite commonly available in fact, except perhaps the wild goose hunt for some clearance items that are always available at someone else's store hundreds of miles away and never in my own stores, such as begin this list in fact since they are the best prices (and are seen as more urgent due to them threatening to clear out, maybe if we hang on and ours is one of the final few stores with them still left they will be even better price, although these are possibly the finds in those stores already).
I have put them in the order of goodness/what I think may be potential urgency, although it is possible some I don't think are urgent may have their offers removed and therefore are more urgent - I don't think anything is that urgent really beyond maybe the final clearance at times and I suspect other than that they'll all come around again at some other point. The list below is not my 'final answer', as I am still looking for a bit after I post this and therefore may add more so check back later this evening.
Cereals list 720g, suggestion is they are Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes and at Sainsbury's £1.20 - www.hotukdeals.com/deals/kelloggs-crunchy-nut-4157781 The 375g box on there are less value but still it's a good price!
Morrisons Fruit & Fibre 750g £1.29 This may not stand out because, although it has had a promotion of a regular low price recently, which doesn't always mean they are good value, it now just has the price amongst all the other items that just have their prices online. It is a 'good' price because we rarely see the relatively cheap prices of last year compared to what many items are now. This one was on offer at this price during last year, the probably few-weeks offer was supposed to run through to 21st August 2022 although I don't know if it did end on that date.
Kellogg's Mixed Berry Wheats 500g £1.80 at Asda Marked "New" there, although I suspect they are new everywhere that has them. They are the only ones in the range that I can see are still at £1.80 after all the others went up to £1.95 some time ago (I think a few weeks but it may in fact be a bit longer than this, as I have sometimes had my online orders placed for two weeks hence and these have been a no-show for me two weeks in a row. Finally the one I ordered for last time turned up - I don't think this says much probably just about my store on the day of the deliveries due for me). Given the others are now £1.95 and have been for some time, it seems to me this item is threatening to go up in price to the same price, although I may be completely wrong. (I am *never* completely wrong, or wrong at all, surely?(!!))
Tesco Corn Flakes 500g are 69p (same as Daily's Corn Flakes at Sainsbury's and same price at Aldi according to Sainsbury's, which I suppose are the value-range now available but not like the old ones we used to have elsewhere - in fact on regular prices, I think Corn Flakes were one of the rare items on which Sainsbury's Basics were the cheapest. There is an offer on the corn flakes at Morrisons at the moment but a penny more expensive).
Morrisons Honey Loops 375g 95p "until 27/08/2023" Plenty of time. Aldi version whatever that is as there is a Sainsbury's price match on Sainsbury's Honey Hoops Cereal 375g 95p. (When anywhere has these 'price matches', I tend to do the precise opposite of whatever they want me to do and therefore I would be more inclined to buy at Aldi than from Sainsbury's and same with Tesco price matches except I am confined, given that I only online and not in stores these days, to Tesco, in theory if I ever order from them, as there are currently too many expensive items there and can't currently get £50 on best-priced items so I am at Morrisons and Asda with whatever they have available for me best and needing to be at Asda given that my caree has exhausted numerous tinned products making me to have to restock, although it is letting me get the White Bread they insist on having given that Morrisons doesn't have Savers version of that online (at least not for me - they don't like Nevill's so I can't use Tesco for that and anyway would have to buy way more including too many too expensive items - I am therefore waiting, probably many months, until we actually need £50 worth of stuff on items that Tesco are better priced on - no use having its Sun Lotion at £2.80 compared to £3.50 elsewhere when Tesco are so much more expensive for me on lots more items and by a lot more in total than 70p. Of course, we should be searching for cheap deals in stores like the olden days except we are not in the olden days anymore).
In the light of the Berry Wheats, ought I say Tesco Nut & Maple Crisp 500G at £1.80?!? Obviously exactly same price by weight but maybe own label should be cheaper (found when trying to find Berry Wheats on Tesco's website but no trace for me on there of those). Same price at Asda though - I am going to remove it from the short version of this list below as it seems to be regular price (other cereals are the same - it's a bit expensive isn't it?).
Morrisoms Frosted Flakes 500g Any 2 for £1.80 Still on offer said to be until 25th February 2024 but these are the only item in the offer (and the only one worth getting) that are continuously out of stock online for me whenever I've checked over months on end now. I've never been able to order them to date (it may just be the store I have to use) - sometimes the system does let you order items on orders placed for dates a bit longer away even if they come up out of stock for sooner orders but even trying the latest delivery date didn't work the time I tried. I've just tried again - as I do occasionally over time just in case it ever manages to work once (and that's all I would want - two boxes of them as they are pretty unhealthy cereal but good for an occasional use) - but, again, whilst they come up initially on the search just like any of the other cereals, they go out of stock whenever I try to add them to an order (even for the latest delivery date I can currently get).
Short version 720g, suggested to be Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes, suggested to be at Sainsbury's £1.20 Kellogg's Crunchy Nut Corn Flakes 375g 75p at Sainsbury's (not as good, who knows if may go cheaper as it is now 3 days past?) Morrisons Fruit & Fibre 750g £1.29 Kellogg's Mixed Berries Wheats 500g £1.80 at Asda Corn Flakes 500g at Aldi (or Tesco own label,* or Daily's at Sainsbury's or now also Sainsbury's own label on Aldi Price Match) 69p Sainsbury's Puffed Wheat Cereal 160g 60p Morrison's Honey Loops 375g/Aldi version/Sainsbury's Honey Hoops Cereal 375g 95p Morrisons Frosted Flakes 500g Any 2 for £1.80
*The comma makes a technical difference - Tesco doesn't say it is an Aldi Price match even though it is the same price as Aldi according to Sainsbury's.
wild-goose chase NOUN a search that is completely unsuccessful and a waste of time because the person or thing being searched for does not exist or is somewhere else (dictionary.cambridge.org)
Oh they do exist - they are *never* completely gone, they just exist at any place except any I visit! And they move around as well so that I never have them.

I dont get the going out for a pizza either, they are so expensive, and I find the frozen ones are quite nice on the occasions we do have them, I begrudge paying £12 for one in a restaurants.

I agree completely. I’ve never had a pizza in a pizza restaurant.
We will go to pizza express or zizzi with vouchers although I don't get pizza coz I feel the same as you lol but with an American husband they see things differently. I will also get domino's but only with 50% off as matt and the kids love it, I'd rather have a curry
I don’t know quite how big they are but I use little pots all the time in the freezer: single egg whites, small portion meat to add to stir fries, apple sauce, reduced home made stock, pâté, hummus…
Can I say I would love to be that good Even with big bits of leftovers I stuggle to reuse If I batch cook I am ok with using up 10 portions of stew/ chilli etc Leftovers that are not next days lunch are the problem
I meal plan, write a shopping list and I am trying (again) to get a freezer emptied whilst I have chucked various things that I know are not going to get used ever Maybe this month
I tend to freeze leftovers in one portion packs - I reckon it’s quite safe as long as it is going to be re-cooked. I hardly ever throw stuff out though sometimes it turns into (often very delicious) soup!
Im chuffed to bits with those tiny little chock pots from T on GJ. Does anyone want to add any ideas for what to freeze in very small amounts in the freezer. They have great little sealed lids🤔😀
So for I'm thinking herbs and lemon juice.

As a result of writing about Morrisons Honey Loops etc., I've now got the theme to Kellogg's Honey Nut Loops from ages ago going round on repeat in my head. I don't dislike the tune but I won't by buying them because the own labels are cheaper (I won't have any reduced box of Kellogg's available to me anywhere - and do they even exist anymore?!? Not as Honey Nut Loops apparently - not been that for 25 years. Well, there you go, shows how in touch I am).

I totally agree. I take one out of the freezer when I'm shattered and serve with coleslaw and salad.it's like having the night off😂
I called in Marksies to use up my £5 off wys £30.I bought the usual milk, eggs, sardines😂 and I had a £20 gift card to use up so it " felt " like a cheap shop . I also bought the Sparks offer - BBQ deal for £10 instead of £12 (might have been £13)🤔
I'm also planning my annual retro party so bought the posh dogs 3 packs. That's 18 sausages for luscious hotdogs served with onions mustard and ketchup. My mouth is watering.
I have lots of 10p brioche hotdog buns in the freezer🤗🤗
Soffritto about to go in the oven with butter and olive oil
What are you going to do with this TM ? Had a total bake off day today. Made 3 bacon and broccoli quiches . Intended to just make the pastry bases only then to make the quiches tomorrow or Tuesday. Took one look at the weather and thought let’s just finish these. Made 4 Scotch eggs also with cook ingredients breadcrumbs and chilli. Very nice. Turned out well.
Evening Look at you lot drinking without me and sleazy. I really need to jump in the bath before I open a bottle. Lovely to see freewheeling popping in.
I have a visitor join me on Candy Crush first time in months i have seen anyone

I have to see the drug nurse because rheumo nurse wants me off steroids and to put me on another tablet which i not happy about
With me Tweet, steroids did their job and got me moving, but when I took myself off them the consultant said it was the best thing that I could have done. All I got given (and still have) was codeine to manage things, and yes I may well be addicted now ...
