Evening all, thanks Dave and mods for your endless work. Are energy suppliers answering the phone these days?, job for tomorrow I've got a new connection at my field but not had any bills yet. I've really tried to get a customer number but gave up because they couldn't set up an account until I'd spoken to a energy advisor, they were aways busy. I've obviously got an account or I wouldn't be having any power🙄.
Silvercar posted about a tariff Martin is recommending which is fixed at the capped price. I think it's this one with E-on Next, the v18 2year fix. No exit fees. 5% discount for dd.
I've switched my electric but I'm waiting until April to switch the gas as I'm only paying 4p at the moment. I checked if I could add it at a later date and was told that's ok.
Thank you Silvercar 💐
Thinking of you tomorrow Enterprise 💐
I am with E-onnext. I checked on the MSE energy board to see which they were talking about. V18 is the same price as the new capped rate (from April).
It's available to everyone through the above link.
V11 is the same deal fixed for 12 months.
The 24 month has a higher standing charge and 5% discount for dd. 5% on £1000 covers the difference in standing charge.
So a fixed for 24 months at Aprils capped price and no exit fees.
I just checked what EDF are offering me in the way of fixed. £233 a month. This time last year I was paying £52 on a fix until end of last December, I'm now paying £97.
Good times have got to come soon.
I'm on EDF standard variable and paying £76 per month. I'm expecting them to raise it but don't know by how much yet.
Edit - Just logged into my EDF account, and they're quoting me £192 per month fixed until March 2024.
I cant work it out. Next 2 Year v18 Direct Debit version Gas Tariff Unit rate 7.23 p/kWh Standing charge 40.92 p/day
Next 1 Year v7 Direct Debit version Gas Tariff Unit rate 13.71 p/kWh Standing charge 21.51 p/day
So, what are the price caps, and do they affect the unit rate, or the standing charge? Sorry, just something I have never really looked at before, just used comparison sites.

Thank you for the new thread DM. So sorry you have had to deal with a certain person, no-one has the right to be nasty, and it is nice that this can be a nice place again.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare

Good evening everyone and thank you for the new thread Dave. Also thank you for all your good wishes re my eyes. Sorry to read there has been discord and well done for getting rid of the culprit. People are so nice on this forum, I just don’t understand. Anyway, I would just like to say a big thank you to Dave and Mods for keeping this a lovely place to spend many hours hours in.. It has been a lovely day here on the east coast, plenty of sunshine and just right for doing a bit of tidying up in the garden. Our mole situation is still ongoing, some of the hills quite honestly are worthy of climbing gear 😂. But hey ho we will keep on flattening them and moving the sonic mole spikes around the garden. I hope everyone is well and that dear tweets had a lovely birthday with Rosie long legs.
We did have a lovely birthday weather being nice helped thanks
I know i have not been about much the last month but that's because i am not at home, will be tomorrow though
You been on your exile again. One day you will tell us where you REALLY go 😂

Martin Lewis then sent a second tweet, that the 1 yr fix was a fix at the cap rate, so should be grabbed by all who are offered,
The 2 yr fix is at a slightly higher rate so is more of a risk, particularly as energy costs may hopefully come down in yr 2.
I’m on the Ovo variable rate and can’t see anything better than waiting. Plus we are getting an electric car soon, which makes comparing rates so much harder.
