For any discussions regarding Amex shop small

A local small shop has a sign near the tills saying their minimum spend on Amex is £30. I wonder if this is allowed?
Is it on the small shops list? If so I would log onto your account and then to the chat button at the bottom of the page - when I did this earlier I just said I had to pay cash as Amex was refused

It is on the list. It's a small deli that hasn't been going long, I wouldn't want it to shut down - do the shops get into trouble with Amex if they have a minimum spend over £10?

I dont think they get into trouble for setting a minimum spend. Also I doubt if a weeks trading in December is going to close them down. We have all seen both national chains and small one man bands close with no rhyme or reason despite always being busy

Has anyone noticed the discussions on the Am3x thread on HUKD about buying 0yster top ups then cashing out refunds? I am not London based so cannot partipate, but it seems sn opportunity if you are? Somenoe has even set up a website with a new version of the map to show which shops selling 0yster are participating.

There must be other cities with similar opportunities. Manchester metro?
I do wonder if Amex would grab the £5 back if there was a refund for the same store.

Latest talk on HUKD is that Amex are suspending accounts where this has been abused.
I think other half would shoot me if I got the Amex suspended with BA companion vouchers sitting in the account.
Just back from lunch with DH...nice little cafe deli...but they refused my amex card They are showing on the map, so a quick chat on live chat and he popped a £5 credit on for me. I mentioned this is the second eatery that has refused my card, so he upped it to £10 I asked it they checked with the businesses before the start of the promotion and he assured me they did.
Managed a few small shops today, booze and meat I did try to buy scratch cards but they refused my card telling me you can't buy lottery on credit Does anyone know if this is correct, I'm sure I've purchased lottery on credit cards before

Of course you can!
Well this shop wouldn't, I've just spotted another store, well I knew it was on there but just realised it's another premier not just a corner shop
I haven't had one ShopSm transaction so far, after all my efforts to get cards. I was in London earlier in the week and thought I would try to get stamps, but the shops refused as they either had no stock or said you couldn't buy stamps with a credit card, and I didn't have time for others.
Previous years I have gone to town with 1stop shops, but they aren't taking part and it is mostly restaurants/bars round here on the map, so I am not interested.
Disappointing this year for me, but on a positive it has saved me lots of £5s that I would have still spent after the credit 😬.
Update - broke my ShopSm drought and bought a few items. One of the local independent food supermarkets accepted it, so partook in a few offers and will get them for half price too. A few stores identified which wouldn't accept Amex so will get in touch with support.
I posted this on the main thread - forgot we had this specific one!
"I've been on live chat with amex to report my unsuccessful trips from today with 3 small shops that have closed down and 2 where the card machine wouldn't accept amex even though they do take amex. On the chat I asked why on some occasions I've reported issues with the shops that I'd been given the £5 credit and on other occasions I hadn't. The person dealing with me said there was a limit of 5 per customer and I'd had my maximum 5! I said I believe I'd only had 4 and named the shops, and asked if he could tell me the fifth - he sent me the full list of 5 - and one of them the person I'd chatted with hadn't said they would be giving me a credit - so now I've just got a bit of a wait to see if the credit appears! I thought it was quite useful information though. Has anyone had more than 5 credits?"
I haven't had any credits yet this year. Just wondering if you can get multiple credits for the same place on supplementary and other cards? We have 8 between myself and Mrs Anon.
In answer to my own question, I went on chat to report a couple of store that didn't accept and mentioned I had gone with my supplementary card holder - they gave 2 credits for the main card and the supplementary card 😎.
I am now seeing why it may make sense to have the cards attached to different login ids rather than all linked on the same login. I don't think I could get credits applied for the same places on different cards (they would likely just look at the transcripts/account)? "Mrs Anon" 😉 may have a go too though with her main card/my supplementary card not mentioned already.
On another note, has anyone had their WHSm1th and P4ypal credits, if you took up those offers?
