sorry if this is offensive to anyone just done a survey that warned me there would be possible distressing images of meat cooking!! are we really so sensitive and PC? LJx
Daft I think. My son had a Barbeque some time back I’m probably going to offend someone here but there was ( my description) a complete tree hugger there with her child. She did nothing but preach on the meat eaters that were there. I very nearly said why don’t you go home . If she’s so against it why turn up ! There’s a time and place for her opinions ….a barbecue full of meat was not the place.

Well, I come home and then OH calls me to say he has just had the nerve conduction test. Basically the chap confirmed it is Guillain-barre which we obviously already knew, and the symptoms should be clearing up within the next week or two. The results of the test will be in tomorrow. Then the problem is he has to build up the muscle strength again, although he had a head start on a lot of people in that he is actually quite muscular, not in that over-stated way, but in a very natural way through the amount of exercise he gets.
Grateful they came to him though, would have been awful if they had to take him to another hospital 20 miles away.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
Hospital orthopaedic consultant appointment for me tomorrow afternoon, to hopefully discuss treatment options then presumably join a long waiting list. Will report back in due course ...
Thank you for all the suggestions for OH. I will see if I can persuade him to listen to something like that, shall have to dig out my ipod and see if it still works. He simply is not used to sitting down/laying down and looking for something to occupy himself. Normally he will sit down and do a few sudoku then be up and doing again. Sudoku is problematic when he has double vision (which is fortunately not all the time).
Still, when they move him to the next ward he may well have someone to talk to, there might even be a TV! The annoying thing is his current room has a TV socket but nowhere to actually put the TV. I would have happily got him a small TV but it would have been in the way.
Probably better using his phone for this as easier to download onto there.
Hope he continues to improve x
Except his phone is total rubbish, has very little storage! And the headphone port has something stuck in it, bluetooth drains the battery in no time flat.

Agreed, that is ridiculous, but she probably went there specifically to preach. I have no objection to people eating vegan/vegetarian, but it is not up to them what I eat!!!
That said, India is 90% vegetarian and ended up eating very little meat there (it was available).

OMG, wish I hadn't started on that rabbit hole, literally. Vegan activists broke into a farm in Spain and "rescued" 16 rabbits. The problem was there was baby rabbits, the ones they stole were either pregnant or lactating. Resulted in the death of 90 other rabbits!
Reminds me of when idiots released mink onto Ashdown Forest. They have no predators in this country, and they bite animals. When they bite deer they go and hide, if the wounds get infected they die a slow and painful death.

Both of us have really cut down on the amount of meat we eat. Probably 2 days every week we go totally veg. This particular woman annoyed me so much I would not have told her this.

I have been taking my tablet in, we have watched IFT5 (Space X launch) and a few other bits.

I think I would have gone and grabbed a nice big juicy steak and eaten it in front of her. It really annoys me that they think they can dictate what we eat. I've had people tell me I wouldn't eat meat if I had ever been in a slaughterhouse (I have been more than once - they need phones too lol). They also reckon I would be incapable of killing a chicken (taught on my mum's best friend's farm when I was 7).
There's also vegans that seem to think that the farm animals would be allowed to live if people stopped eating them - farms are a business fgs!
And I remember a story from somewhere, a vegan woman complaining that someone must have taught lions to eat meat, that they would naturally eat vegetation!!!!!!

So glad it went well for him and it probably boosted his morale to be told that he’s naturally fitter and more muscular ❤️

I think his head will be swelling, he has been told so often! Whether it is a line they trot out I am not sure, but I do know he is strong and muscular (insert salivating emoji here lol).

Reminds me of my dear old Dad who was always strong and muscular into old age because he did a manual job until his seventies. He had lots of serious health issues but after every consultant appointment he would announce “He said I’m a fine figure of a man” and rub his beer belly !! I think it was a way of deflecting from talking about his ailments but it was so cute and brave of him x
Random question that I think the elite will know the answer to.
My DS has a garden office/shed. WE give it internet using home plugs but it is a bit flaky, for some reason we have to run ethernet from the nearest plug socket into a lan port rather than using a plug socket on the same ring next to a switch.
Was wondering if we could simply run ethernet all the way to the shed from a lan socket in the house - are there any max length or other issues we need to worry about? If we simply run normal lan cable (cat 5 or 6) outside are we likely to run into any problems beyond it probably not lasting very long? Thanks

From memory max length of Cat5 is around 100m, after that you get degradation. Are you going to pin it to a fence or run underground/on the ground? Underground you need some form of ducting if normal cable, and bury it a few inches somewhere you don't dig. Possible problems are obviously weather and that vermin like eating cable. Underground we would always recommend armoured cable but that is expensive and not easy to deal with.
So pleased you are up sleazy. I can post now. It took me ages making breakfast yesterday😳🤣
the whole vegan/meat eater debate is loaded with nuances and complexity. I think the answer is to be kind and tolerant towards one another of which ever persuasion you are and not get drawn into division.
Whats everyone's views on Marksies at the moment? I think they are blowing it out of the water. Loving just about everything they are selling. For any knitters here, just a question. What is cloud yarn? Might be something to steer clear of. A recent purchase which is so cosy and warm is starting to bobble and I hate a bobbly jumper😞 Their Christmas food is amazing. I nick their ideas and try and replicate them😂
Enterprise your hubby is the same age as me 👍. There you go then treat him to a large Samsung Galaxy tablet or an iPad of course for him to have there.
I've been rather forgetful of late re hubby s appointment s . There are so many and papers everywhere. I get over whelmed with it all. Anyway Dawn has put them on her phone . Hubby s still not in a very good way. He still as thin even though he has up to 4 of these energy drinks which he now says fills him up and makes him go to the toilet all the while. So he needs to cut down on those and hopefully eat more. He s also depressed and feels down in the dumps and the last lot of depression tablets never made the slightest difference .
He has an appointment with the consultant this afternoon . I need to write some points down as I can't get a word in edgeways as his talking hasn t worsened. He just jumps in with whatever he wants to say and of course the drs talk to him mainly as he s the patient. He doesn t have a clue about tablets or anything else really.
He s very airy fairy and doesn't remember much but remembers his lottery tickets and his alcohol lol. Anyway we ll see how we go this afternoon.
I usually have awful dreams where I'm either lost somewhere and I ask people but they don't know anything or I'm trying to get hold of someone on my phone and I don't know how to work it etc. You can tell the state of my mind can't you. I also tend to worry about anyone and everyone in the family instead of concentrating on us two.
Last night I had a slightly better dream lol I was still lost but in Liverpool . I was asking people where Primark was lol Don't bother with Marksie s TM lol. I however had a nice bar of chocolate that I was enjoying . THE main thing I can remember was using my iPad as a seat and was floating around on it . Was great. 😀.
Maybe a thing of the future like one black and one white twin I wanted when I was about 10. Oh how they all laughed. 😁👍
Depression medication can take a long time to kick in.....weeks. It's just a drip drip thing. Did he give it long enough to work? If his mental health could be improved he might benefit all round. Apologies if I'm saying something you are already aware of

My recurring dream is going into a maths exam when I haven't revised. Or sometimes I'm rushing to catch a plane and I haven't even packed🥴
Good Morning TM . I ve been on various anxiety tablets for years . Different ones .I have less now than I used to have and they are only just keeping me afloat so to speak. I think a less stronger person would have had a breakdown before now to be honest . Have a good day lol

Yes sounds similar but mine are corkers and sometimes I wake up with my heart pounding like mad . Not a nice way to start the day .

You have a lot on your plate. I hope you still find time for yourself. Are you still getting out and about?
Good morning, kettles back on as I was lying in bed just being lazy and not getting up. Glad your hubys improvig enterprise, huge hugs sue i hope you can get help as the stress & pressure your under must be immense and so overwhelming, this is a good place to let off some steam xx. After my big wobble Saturday, hubby said these things could be fixed, it's not nice but we will get there. The run as always helped thanks for asking Picasso, until I came home went to open the garage, and the handle came off on my hand 🙄 this is why it wasn't locked and it was unattached from the inside seriously a nasty bi@#h to knowingly leave things like that. We were going to have a day off yesterday but hubby found what he needed and fixed the sink & bath 🙏 ill try a bath tonight please keep everything crossed, he will buy things today and hopefully fix the garage as no other way into it. I'm with you on water wendya, only for we need it to survive I'd ban it 😄. I went to the tip with a rammed car full, we had another neighbour visit 😊 had a cuppa and chated for ages, 17 years in previous house I went to introduce myself as we were a shared drive of 3 houses, both ignored me and we have no idea what their names are, what a difference. We chatted to other neighbour across the wall while following car up, he is a larger than life character we get on soooo well, been invited when they have parties they are loaded, a Bentley with his name on, a range rover and motorbikes, house is huge he came with the wine & card I can't wait to meet his wife. He did say if we needed anything to let him know so i asked him if he could fix the sink, bath, garage door he did laugh but i was serious lol. Both sides have one of their children living doors away so that hopefully is a good omen. Hubby got our cat from cattery he is not a happy bunny we won't leave him out we let him sleep with us "just for tonight" i told hubby i don't want him making it a habit. I got a few more boxs emptied, swept outside and cleared leaves, moved pots around garden while hubby made a lovely dinner. I slept a little better lastnight, off for a run knowing I can have a lovely shower thank god for the ensuite. It was quiet windy and rainy throughout the night but it looks lovely outside if a bit windy. Have as good a day as possible. Hugs and more hugs to all. Xx

Mine is driving my car into a ditch, and nobody finds me!
I also have an irrational fear of dwarfs (sorry if that's not PC), and when I see an old man with a walking stick, I'm tempted to kick away the stick (I have always managed to stop myself)
Enterprise your hubby is the same age as me 👍. There you go then treat him to a large Samsung Galaxy tablet or an iPad of course for him to have there.
He has a perfectly good tablet, he is rather afraid of having it there overnight though, he can't put it away as he can't get to the cupboard, and he doesn't want to knock it off the table overnight. Yes, a member of staff could put it away, but then he would have to call someone to get it out for him. When he is more mobile it will be different. I shall continue to take mine in to break the day up a bit. He has dropped his phone so often it has cracks all over the screen now, still works perfectly OK though as there is a decent screen saver on it (and it is the screen that is cracked as opposed to the saver).

Can you get him into counselling? Can he get some mates to come over to talk to, properly talk to? Please get him to talk to someone.
We had a friend, my daughter's best friend's mum, she fully recovered from breast cancer, was over the 5 year thing, but she had a victim mentality. She was always a drinker but this turned her into an alcoholic, she was always on about how she had had cancer and was doomed, never about how she had survived and had a future. She wouldn't "talk" to anayone, myself included. She died just before her first granddaughter was born, multiple organ failure due to alcoholism.
