A terrible day at work, but turning my frown upside down with a homemade lasagne, made with 43p beef mince, 10p salads leaves and whoopsied coleslaw. Getting out the very best glasses to have a chilled cocktail.
Really hoping that your fabulous photo's of The Toon bridges and your scrumptious tea are as comforting to you as they are to me. xx
And here's me waiting for a fabulous pickled garlic recipe off TM and she's off having cocktails and lasagna with Mr TM pfttt what's the world coming to?
I buy pickling vinegar but also add a teaspoon of pickling spices to each jar. It blows your head off. Lovely 🥰 Ps. If I think I’m going to eat the pickles quite soon I infuse the pickling spices first in a little hot water. Beware it can make your eyes water.😁
Hmmm this is why I'm thinking something like a white wine vinegar will be better 😆

She will know I'm joking 😃😃😃 (I hope)
I never seem to have enough garlic to pickle. Same as beetroot, we just eat it before we have time to pickle it. But interested to hear what you come up with🤗
I froze garlic for the first time recently and was very grateful for it the other day as it saved me a trip to the shops.
Why have I woken so early?! It’s still the middle of the night!
I’ve been buying the frozen Taj brand cubes for ages. 79p for the equivalent of 40 cloves and you don’t have to peel them!
I’ve got the coffee pot on for the boys so if I do hot drinks can you put out the biscuits and turn on the toaster ready for the rest of the world to wake up?
Thanks lalli, I've got some homemade plum and cinnamon jam to add to the breakfast😋. Going to do some blackberry jam today and wondering what spice/ herb to add to give it a different taste🤔.
Well it's a long old process peeling all that garlic. I also didn't make enough pickling liquid so I'm just about to make some more. Hopefully it will be worth it. Lalli I think I know why it has to be 5% is that to put it in a store cupboard? As this recipe says keeps up to four months in the fridge.
Morning! I have ventured onto this thread for a while as life has felt very busy recently!
Thank you for the coffee and toast though, and I love seeing all the homemade preserves. Mr FW jarred some green beans last night, and made banana chutney earlier in the week after an Olio glut! The green beans are from the allotment and there are still tons to pick. The freezers are already full 😆.
Morning all. mattswife no words sending slightly dodgy hugs. I miss that MSE emoji.
New jobs an eye opener. Some of the people wowser! Let's just say we don't share interests or ethics.
I've done very little MSE stuff but I have sorted all the companies freebies. Pensions and shares.very lucrative even towards my short plans.
Hope everyone's OK. I'm hoping as time goes on I'm hoping my normal week will return. Mainly when WFH is allowed. Save me a lot of time and petrol. Mind you I do I enjoy the radio on the journey.
Chilly start to the day, first time for ages I needed a coat on when I went for my walk this morning. All the leaves are looking quite a dull green now so they are getting ready to change, autumn is definitely just round the corner.
Lots of cutting back needs to go on outside as most plants have put on unbelievable amounts of growth this year, must have been the very wet Spring that encouraged them. My next few weekends are going to be very busy out there.
Hope everyone is well. Big hugs to those who are unwell or struggling with the things life throws at us, take care and look after yourselves.
New prices in Wetherspoons. Brekkie today (vegan) was £3.99 but £2.99 in some pubs. Extra mushrooms by mistake (normally 1 plus 1 for exchanged tomato). Refillable coffee £1.56 extra, so £5.55 total.

Yes, the 5% is for if you want to keep them out of the fridge. I forget that normal people have space in the fridge for extra jars. Mine is currently rammed full of cheese, hellofresh bags and vegetables 😂

MY OH seems to like the process of peeling and chopping garlic .... but I think I am going to get some of these frozen cubes - cheapest on The trolley website is Sainsburys from £1 - which should work out cheaper than buying the big bulbs
Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others,or to diminish something of their pains

They look lovely Di...
I bought a jar from Lidl at the weekend, Italian week, £1.99. Well OH wanted them, 🤔 I'm usually happy with the puree tube from Heron about 60p. My jar is in vegetable oil, I'm sure we've had them before and they were soggy. 🤣
I’m currently watching a Japanese YouTube channel called tasty time youtu.be/wAJFPmKf_TE?si=7kNegvOlw4indXJ5 and she’s pickled garlic cloves in soy sauce for fried rice and steak.
Interestingly she also froze whole cucumbers and sliced cucumbers in this video which I’d like to try.

All this talk of garlic 🧄😆. I ended up with quite a few bulbs thru Hello Fresh. Saved them, as used I Lazy Garlic myself (jar, bought when on offer for 99p). Then when done with HF, made all the garlic bulbs into lazy garlic; lots of chopping, put into jar, top with olive oil, will last me a few months 👍👍👍.
