With the mention of Kon Marie this morning I thought it might be useful to have a separate thread - I know that there are a few Kon Marie experts on the group who will explain.
Most of us are hard wired to hoard away as much as we can in preparation for the hard times to come (and they do come with horrible frequency). But your circumstances change, families change and life changes and a time comes when you need to let go, downsize, de clutter, rationalist and be realistic
Last weeks major success was the cupboard over the oven which is used to store the small electricals - a bit of an abandoned black hole as we have had an empty next now for 3 months so its time to re organise stuff.
Out of it came
3 irons
2 kettles - kept as just incases
an electric hand whisk - my original one but badly damaged and probably unsafe to use
George Forman grill
sandwich maker
toaster that only works on one side
Most went back into the cupboard not cleaned properly (used by kids!) and most we were dubious about working.
The kids now are all at least 3 hours from us so if anything breaks down they cant just come to mum for a spare. And anyway there is Argos and Amazon which are far closer.
This was one of the few occasions were very little could be salvaged and it all went to the tip.
The only things that went back in where
new electric hand whisk
m-I-ls hand whisk saved for Errant son
new smoothie maker
2 hand blenders - one is Errant sons
Clean and tidy cupboard which should never get in that mess again. We also cleaned and cleared the top of the fidge and freezer and cupboards tops - one job always leads to another
