Does anyone have any recommendations for what product to use to clean white UPVC double glazing frames, please? Ours could do with a good clean to bring it back to perfection as it is starting to look weathered despite only being a few years old.
i think discussions on deals should be left here, I wouldn't describe them as clutter...the whole ethos of the elite is sharing finds...not hiding them.
Also, and this is only my opinion, and I dont speak for anyone else here but myself, but if people cant be bothered to sign up, interact with the group, then sod em. I would go so far as to say people that dont contribute in some way (and I dont mean by posting deals, just a hello or a thanks is contributing in my eyes) should not have access. Life is full of people that just take.
I disagree on this bit DM and I know it's only your opinion. I've been kicked out of FB groups before for non interaction but sometimes you feel that the group is so cliquey that's you never feel part of it. I don't believe we are like that but I know some people do.
i would rather keep the one person who for whatever reason cannot join in.....some people aren't good with ANY form of social interaction than start even thinking about restricting access.
Aren't B&Q expensive. Cheapest pack of seeds £2.50, no wonder there's not many seeds left in Wilko. I got their last pack of 25p lettuce. FWIW I like upstairs for covid & separate shops.

Morrisons to scrap More card loyalty scheme in two months and replace it with discounts app Morrisons has announced that it will be scrapping its More card loyalty scheme and replacing it with an app-based money-off scheme as of May 10.
I think a code is sent to your phone for 50p but apparently works on anything😂😂. I'm one away from winning one🤗
have you won curly?
Not tried yet TM as I thought you would need a coupon printer and I can't get one to work..... Thanks for posting, I'll try later.
I haven't tried yet as it says to click on the link when you're in store, so I presume you don't need to print it.
TM I've tried on mine and Mr FW's phone and when you 'drop pin' you just click on the Jaffa cake on the map, and both times it's told me I've won a 10 pack of Jaffa cakes.
I like the upstairs/downstairs thing. It makes information much easier to find.
Stupid quiz, I dispute the answer on the correct protocol for landing my helicopter 😂
You should see the problems I'm having getting a roller skate which is 100yds down the village. Furthermore a Jaffa cake has landed right next to it. I'm going to have to go down and catch it and I should be working😕😱
Just to add, I have seen scraper bots (think that is what they are called) from at least one world-wide company named after a rainforest visit the site.
I think I get you but I thought it was a river 😉😂
If it's the one I'm thinking of then it's both a rainforest and a river!
I might be thinking of something else entirely though 😆.

Could the rules be any more complicated? My Jaffa cake is too far away. It's sitting on the Front Street. Do I need to go and find it?😂😂😂😂

The stuff the double glazing guys use...next time you see a double glazing van, ask them if they have any and offer them a drink ?...I asked for some from the company that fitted our bay windows, but then I am cheeky like that
Thank you for the morning brew and what an amazing cake to wake up to.
Have been having some great days in the garden getting all those little jobs done. Cabbage, Broccoli, lettuce, Rocket, Radish, Kalette and numerous other bits and bobs have poked their heads out the tops of the compost. Garden is bursting into life now.
Scarified the back lawn and given it a good seeing to yesterday. The front lawn is going to have it today.
Have great days everyone.
Not sure what our Emerald will make of that. You'll make her day.

Have you tried Premier Seeds Direct? Via, Amazon, I normally get free postage and the seed contents are usually much more ie 3k+/- for carrots etc.

That didn't even occur to me, I just clicked on it! 🤣
Feeling pretty adulty today, I just set up my children some premium bonds, vaccumed the car and paid for my daughters 3 sessions at preschool before she gets her free hours. Can't quite believe she's old enough for preschool already.
If our council tax is paid with a credit card then there is a surcharge for using this payment method. No surcharge for payments with debit card so the answer is probably yes.
I thought adding a surcharge was not illegal? (edit: pipped to the post)
Sorry you are not happy with the way the deals are posted upstairs Locarr, would you prefer them all on this page cluttering it all up, or separate threads just downstairs?
from another perspective you could look at it that everything is being put upstairs which may end up that this thread becomes less important. By putting everything in its own place then you do run the risk that this one loses it universal quality and just becomes the one where people come to say good morning at best or at worst case scenario bypass it altogether.
Many people still interact with this thread just for the social aspect ...posting things that are not shopping related which is a very important gelling factor for the community....if you start to have multiple threads upstairs you do then run the risk that people just focus on the couple of threads they are interested in and dont interact so much here.
That may seem that you are therefore trying to create a board of for reference threads and losing the mass thread here.
I totally understand that some people dont want to read the mundane stuff...but dont forget that to some thats little interactions that they have with others...I'm not singling out in particular...but snaps daily posts are refreshing and a one liner from her can be so uplifting ...and mrs mac with her daily check in just may give a sense of perspective to a few ...mudane to some doesnt mean mundane to all.
The talk was recently that savvy might return....does that mean for example that because he produces his lists of info on stock levels that they would be best based upstairs? Should we (dare I mention the word) have a prolific thread or one for posting sopost deals.what about the things like mystery wine deals.....my point being if you split things up too much you start to miss the more everyday general banter of here....or again should perhaps we have a "good morning all thread"...and yes I am saying that a little tongue in cheek but as moderators of the forum you do need to consider the impact of splitting things too much. All you could end up doing is creating something that moves to fast in subsections upstairs for anyone to actually feel part of the community that is the elite.
The daily quiz is surely a contender for an upstairs slot....but it also generates banter and chat here.
You need a film or a series to watch...lets have a thread upstairs!...again good idea if you keep it solely to things to watch ...but where do you put the chat about those things?...surely the debate about it comes down here....
People often ask for recipies twinks and things...theres a thread upstairs...but is it really used...i dont think so...when curly wanted to know what to do with butter beans she asked here...not on the recipe thread...same too if i remember correctly with HG who asked for vege/vegan suggestions.....there are very few recopies upstairs compared to the amount of times food is discussed here.
TM did her monthly challenge in an effort to get us interactng...a real success but in theory thats something else that could easily been taken upstairs....lalipickle took her eating out of the cupboards upstairs but personally I would have loved that one down here to chat about...we could all do with clearing out every now and again and the old frugal Feb used to be a challenge lots embraced on MSE without the need for it to be placed upstairs.
Again at the risk of naming ..bubbs has the slimming thread upstairs..its become more than slimming to those who post there possibly because that little community chat amongst themselves...we could end up for example lose those posters from the main thread simply because they interact solely in their little bubble up there....often someone says "oh i havent seen(insert name)...it could be that the response to that becomes..."they feel more comfortable now posting only in the(insert name of )thread...we dont want that to be the case surely?...we may end up never seeing JTS because he posts in cheltenham or whatever its called....or Di because she posts in morrisons glitches....I hope you see my point.
Food for thought or devils advocate...or whatever you want to call my post...but I do urge moderators to consider all the options and how people use the elite before you split it up so much that we lose interaction too much.
Apologies for the long post and at the risk of derailing the thread here if anyone wants to comment further with me on this...shall we go to PM

Life is a strange thing, just when you think you've learned how to use it, it's gone
I like upstairs, as it means I don’t have to waste time reading about shops in places I don’t visit. It also means the “codes” on here are far less frequent. That makes this thread easier to read and more welcoming for newbies.
There is another place I hang out in, that doesn’t have an “upstairs” and the codes on there are so cumbersome that people constantly forget what they are and newbies ask, so posts go on and on explaining then and that then always starts a discussion on whether they are necessary or not, that discussion gets argumentative and boring. It’s not helped by the codes being so confusing they are hard to crack eg mastercard is known as seagull because the MasterCard head office is in Southend, where there are seagulls!
Oh dear Don’t know how they came to that conclusion as MasterCard HO for U.K. is London but it was access ( your flexible friend) who were based in Southend and that was disbanded in the eighties, building demolished and a housing estate built lol x

Strawberri you hit the nail on the head there and we help and support each other i do feel more comfortable there and no sniping at people all the time. Unless it's put on here people do not know what other people are going through in real life. Light relief yes, cr ap i can do with out especially at the moment.
So i just say morning etc and if there s something i agree with i will post

Strawberri, I agree with most of your points here. I think what you're saying is very true. The slimming thread is a big thread and if you don't need to diet (which I definitely do) I can see that may take over this thread. A mystery wine bargain thread I would be interested in but to someone like Bubbs who doesn't drink they may not wish to read about it. I think we all need to make it our priority to pop in here to keep it alive. I haven't posted for a couple of weeks as it was dh birthday so he had time off and then we had our covid jab last week which absolutely has floored us both. I was still reading though and as TM says it is a lifeline to so many people. Sorry Dave you've got your work cut out on this one, a bit like Boris... your dammed if you do and dammed if you don't. You're never going to please everyone but just so you know I don't mind whichever way it goes I'm just grateful to be here 😁 said in my Ian Mcclelland voice off the George Era song 😁

In these challenging times we need to be inclusive...perhaps a little kinder or softer with each other and realise that not everyone's coping mechanism is the same.
Our board here may need to adapt and evolve to suit specific needs but lets not forget that we are all here because we joined a group to be part of a supportive community.
No one is ever going to agree with everyone all the time but it about respecting others ....without malice setting in
And in honesty it's not even about justifying your reasons for posting or not....its about posting when you need to and having the support of others when you need it...its something the elite used to be good at.
When life is going well...many may not post(well aware there are things like families that also take up a lot of peoples time)...but actually its when things are not so good thats the time many come here for the friendly support....as well as the odd bargain or glitch
Be kind

Life is a strange thing, just when you think you've learned how to use it, it's gone
Popped to the company Shop this morning and had a browse.. got 6 Mullers for £1.25, vimto NAS for 80p, and a bargain found some Morrisons Savers coffee in the jumble sale bit for 28p each (normally about 70p), both us and parents already buy this so got them for us.
Past couple of times I've been, I've had a till spit guest pass for next time.
Could we not put genuine grab a bargains and giveaways here. Slightly questionable(read dodgy) or complicated a mention here and a pointer that its upstairs ??
....And look at the example she's setting....she flits in and out as she pleases ,sometimes goes months without us seeing her and with due respect doesnt always provide a glitch everyone is interested in or indeed partakes in
but on the whole shes given a very warm and supportive welcome when she returns
Lets be more like the glitch fairy!
