Very interesting reading at the end of the last thread about offset mortgages etc. We've never dared to do anything like that. For me, the biggest feeling of security in my life is knowing that the roof over my head is paid in full and can't be taken away. Not in any way a criticism of others having a different approach, just my attitude to risk I guess. The money that used to go on the mortgage payment now goes into our pensions.
So there are obviously big tax advantages to putting money into a pension whereas with such low interest rates mortgages are very cheap. So I have been putting money into the pension now whilst leaving the mortgage, I can always use the pension tax free lump sum to pay it off if need be, with the tax relief this works out much cheaper than using the same money to pay off the mortgage directly.
We all have things we feel strongly about that 'push our buttons' and going stir crazy at home certainly doesn't help. Good thing is on the interweb there are loads of places we can go to discuss/vent whereas here we can just let it go as being off topic.
bit rich to ask for non political posts and then post that link at the end of the last thread "for balance"
Morning ALL!
It’s a shame that something light hearted was taken so seriously by ONE person. The same person moaned about marmites obviously light hearted post. That One person is too opinionated. I would go as far as saying up their own A55
Zippy please look back the person didn’t moan about marmite’s post too they quoted to say they also found it funny.

Good morning, happy Easter everyone. Well yesterday took an interesting turn. Just for a change we were sat on the riverbank admiring the swan when it hopped out of the water, we oohed and ah'd and then it started climbing up the riverbank. I've not seen dh move so quick for a while and I was soon behind him. It must have been really hungry, he had a little lunch on the patio and then he left. If i could remember how to post a pic i would put one on.
Morning TS Get them elbows at the ready for the bread 🤣🤣🤣
Happy Easter to you too , How is DD ?
What did Marmie say? i must have seen it but forgotten, hope he is ok as has not posted for a few days?
Marmie is one of the most thoughtful members of this forum and means no harm to anyone, so Marmie get yourself back here
I won 😉. Think it might have been me producing a beer infused Easter egg for him...
DD is doing ok thank you assume you mean Dr. She has been lucky and had 12 days off as 8 of those were clinic days and as all clinics shut was told to be rested just in case called in to cover days/nights. I’m not sure the others she rotates with will be so lucky when it’s their turn as we will be further on in all this.
She had had luck on her side to be honest as was due to rotate to respiratory beginning of April but all the rotations were cancelled. She had also been on that rota to work Easter.
It is worrying though as her hospital trust was one listed as having over 100 deaths. 🙁

Glad you won
Yes i did mean Dr one, that's good she has had a break and some rest, it must be so worrying
The boozy Simnel cake is out the oven, just in time for the lamb to go in
When I do roast lamb, I love doing "Greek style" potatoes with it. I place the potatoes - kept large, perhaps cut in half maximum - in the bottom of the roasting pan. Plenty of sprigs of Rosemary, garlic and salt on top, drizzle of olive oil. Then place the lamb on top and slow roast. Mmmmmmm!
I'm baking a tiger loaf, so the dough is on its first rise at the moment.

oh dear, shiny lovely new thread so I was hoping that it would have less of a political bias and be less focused on the Great Plague, for which we have dedicated threads. Plus the joy of being over here was that it was an oasis of calm in a miserable world and that we dont end up with the snarliness of MSE and UKHotdeals .....
Back out to the garden for me
Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others,or to diminish something of their pains

Yes I see that now But I still don’t know why she could not just have skipped passed my post if they did not like it.
And I know I should have put she instead of they
You mean like I did...
I think it’s difficult at a time when we are in a heightened sense of anxiety. We all have a responsibility to think twice before we post but none of us will get it right every time.
Look what treasure I've just come across in the garage😊
Does anyone know what they are?😊
You fill them with water, then stick them in the pot. They are meant to slowly water your plants over a day or so. Meant for watering them on weekends away. Edit: Pah, beaten to it, was catching up.

Those plant waterers are very useful, gives the plant water when they need it. Used to put a 4 pint milk bottle in the mifdle of my strawberry pot to keep it watered, it worked quite well but I could bever keep the strawberries going in it.
If it is me you are referring to, I find i cannot leave a post attacking someone that worked so hard it nearly killed him unanswered. If you want me to disappear then I gladly will.

Just ignore, don't go anywhere
Now i don't often say this
Line drawn and everyone behave, at the end of the day we are in this TOGETHER, so this is light hearted relief on here , people are struggling financially, mentally , missing loved ones ,illness etc so lets ALL get on 🧡🧡🧡
Dh said to me about his workmate being on his own today, i said you should have invited him for dinner, he said could invite him but he can't come can he? Was just a natural thing to say, how could i forget he couldn't come? 😂😂😂
